I know that we have touched this very intriguing topic before, but for the benefit of all of our newer SDF'ers, I will re- address the topic of nonsensical, phonetic background parts associated with so called "doo wop" records, ie,"sha na na na sha na na na na, shoo dop shoo bee doo, doo wop shoo bop, etc., and also nonsensical phonetic song titles ie, Tee Nah Nah,Shoo bee doo bee doo dah day, etc. I know that the SDF has some experts on this subject, so..fire away, y'all!!! |

Hello Submarine! Hey, Mr. "Electronic". I likes this kind of funy threads. Starts like a game and allways we all learns a lot. By now i only remember these few: -Dinorah, Dinorah (George Benson) -La-Di-Da (O'Jays) -O Wow (Panic Buttons) In Spain have a epitome song of this kind, "La-la-la" by Massiel who gained the Eurovision festival in the 60's. I'll back again with more titles. Peace & Soul Food |

My favorite is The Marcels' "Blue Moon". Then there's also "Get a Job" by The Silhouettes and "Ramma Lamma Lamma Ding Dong" by The Edsels. |

"In the Still of the Night" "Sincerely" oh yes, sincerely, cause I love you so dearly, please say you'll be mine. I have no idea who sing those songs. |

Hi Sis...I had to scratch my head on those two classics also, but I think "In The Still of The Night" was the Five Satins. "Sincerely" was none other than The Moonglows. |

Hello submarine! Some few others: -"Oh-Po-Pa-Do" by Andr Williams It's very funny and cool with a good bass voice singing these "lyrics" (i don't knows who sings, Andr is the sax player) "Stiky-Boom-Boom" by Brenton Wood This deep soul singer got many songs with lyrics as this title. I only remeber this by now. "Poo Poo La La" by Roy Ayers Some rock-flavoured track by Roy from a good album, "In The Dark". Peace & Soul Food |

One of the all-time classics of this 'genre': "Shoop Shoop De Doop Rama Lama Ding Dong Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah" by the Clinger Sisters. Jerry Osbourne mentioned this in one of his record collector price guides and joked that the title took up so much space on the label that the song was short! (I've yet to hear this one; it's on Tollie, best known for early Beatles 45s). Also, "Shoo Doo Fuh Fuh Ooh" by Lenny Williams. Best, Mark |

"In-a-ma-ma-ma, in-a-ma-ma-magination"--The Quotations' version of the old chestnut "Imagination" Also, the stretching out of the word "Touch" in the Vito and the Salutations' version of "Unchained Melody", which I won't even ATTEMPT to spell out, LOL! Best, Mark |
