Yes Ray Charles is gone, but he has given us a lasting gem of a performance with his last cd entitled, "Genius Loves Company". This cd was released and hit the stores on August 31, 2004. It is a cd of duet performances with Ray and such luminaries as Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, James Taylor, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Michael McDonald, Gladys Knight, Johnny Mathis and Van Morrison.

These are the track listings.

"Here We Go Again" - with Norah Jones

"Sweet Potato Pie" - with James Taylor

"You Don't Know Me" - with Diana Krall

"Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word" -
with Elton John

"Fever" - with Natalie Cole

"Do I Ever Cross Your Mind" - with Bonnie Raitt

"It Was A Very Good Year" - with Willie Nelson

"Hey Girl" - with Michael McDonald

"Sinner's Prayer" - with B.B. King

"Heaven Help Us All" - with Gladys Knight

"Over The Rainbow" - with Johnny Mathis

"Crazy Love"(live) - with Van Morrison

This cd again cements Ray Charles as the legend that will always be with us even in death.

I picked up this cd yesterday. So far I've only listened to the duets with Natalie, Michael, and Gladys.

I really enjoy what Ray and Natalie did with FEVER. Ray and Michael's HEY GIRL is good, as well. But I was a bit disappointed with his duet with Gladys on HEAVEN HELP US ALL. Its good. But I was really waiting for him and Gladys to belt it out. It sounds like they were holding back some.
