I enjoy listening to some of Selena's recordings. I became aware of her and her lovely voice a couple months before she was murdered. Can anyone tell me what she is saying in spanish in the song "I Could Fall In Love With You?" Siempre estoy soando en ti Besando mis labios, acariciando mi piel Abrzandome con ansias locas Imaginando que me amas Como yo poda amar a t Thank you!! |

I could lose my heart tonight, If you dont turn and walk away Cause the way I feel I might Lose control and let you stay Cause I could take you in my arms, And never let you go I could fall in love with you I could fall in love with you I could only wonder how Touching you would make you feel But if I take that chance right now, Tomorrow will you want me still? (baby will you want me? ) So I should keep this to myself, And never let you know I could fall in love with you (I could fall in love with you) I could fall in love with you And I know its not right, And I guess I should try To do what I should do But I could fall in love, Fall in love, with you I could fall in love with you Siempre estoy soando en ti Besando mis labios, acariciando mi piel Abrazandome, con ansias locas Imaginando que me amas Como yo podra amar a ti (translation: Im always dreaming of you Kissing my lips, caressing my skin Hugging me with crazy longings Imagining that you love me The way that I could love you) So I should keep this to myself, And never let you know I could fall in love with you I could fall in love with you I could fall in love, (fall in love) I could fall in love, (fall in love) with you I could fall in love with you. |

I didn't know about her until she was killed. They started showing her concerts on the spanish channels here in L.A. She was singing in some club and people lined up and walked up to her on the stage (while she was singing) to touch her or kiss her and she kissed, touched, and hugged each and every person that walked up to her. The line of people was non-stop and it lasted the whole time this show was on tv. Her fans loved her and she loved them. I had never seen an artist do that before. I was really touched. And she had a beautiful voice and was quite the stage performer. |

Yes SisDetroit they do. And I notice they aren't really divided by age. Old and young are together a lot. From little kids to grandmas and grandpas. |

My favorite Selena song is Dreaming of You, and its posthumous release made it even that more poignant. |

Dreamin of you is my favorite too. She only finished four songs in English. That is so sad. And J-Lo rode that wave of music success because of Selena. Had she made a record before she did that movie I doubt anyone would have noticed. I think she did a fine job in the movie by the way. |

I had never heard of J-LO until I saw her in the "Selena" movie. She did a great job in singing and dancing. Since I had never seen nor heard of her, it was easy for me to visualize her being Selena. (However, I do not like Jennifer's own songs.) When they were looking for someone to star as Selena in the movies, and picked Jennifer, two of my coworkers were upset because the producers chose Jennifer who was not of the same nationality as Selena. One is Puerto Rico and the other is Mexican. (I forgot which.) There was a big public protest because her fans believed the producers should have chosen someone of the same nationality as Selena. |

I love Selena's music too...I heard of her somewhat before she was tragically killed but I never really knew her music until the movie came out. My favorite is Dreaming of you and I could fall in love, as well as her spanish speaking songs. What a horrible loss for her husband and her family. I heard they were very close knit. I really love the movie Selena. I think it was Jennifer's best movie. I like her movies better than her music! |

She was getting ready to really shine as a superstar when this senseless act of betrayal and greed from her friend and fan-club president Yolanda Saldivar ended in a single gunshot to the chest of Selena. It's a shame that she would not own up to her responsibility of killing her when she was interviewed a few years ago on VH1's "Behind The Music" on Selena. What a tragic end to the life of a beautiful woman and extraordinary talent. |

I love Selena like I love Tammi. They both have that sense of humor. Selena's such a jokester. Tammi has that laugh that's contagious. I remember hearing one time that one time, Selena wanted to give one of the singers from the Mexican boy group, La Mafia, an oreo cookie. So she filled the cookie with mint toothpaste. The funny part was that her dad ate it, instead of the band member. Her dad said, "Hmm, these cookies are good. The taste kinda minty." LOL!!!! Selena said when she was at the Grammys, she REALLY wanted to meet Andy Garcia. Just one question: Who the heck is Andy Garcia?! Here are my favorite songs Captive Heart El Chico De Apartemento 512 Dreaming Of You Amor Prohibido Techno Cumbia (I can't see why one of the Spanish teachers hates that song.) Baila Esta Cumbia Bidi Bidi Bom Bom Wherever You Are (w/Barrio Boyz) Is It The Beat? My Love A Boy Like That Missing My Baby Always Mine Disco Medley I Could Fall In Love God's Child I'm Getting Used To You No Quiero Saber This reminds of the story that I'm thinking of writing in the future. It's called "Heaven on Earth: Dreaming of You". Candice and her parents visit her cousin in Corpus Christi, TX. M&T follow Candice from Philly and they all meet Selena. The funniest part is when Selena shows Tammi and the girls how to do the Washing Machine and Marvin laughs so hard that he ends up falling backwards and lands on his behind. |

Eli, I read that Salma was offered the role, but she refused because she thought it was too soon after her death to make a movie. I think JLo did a good job, she looks like her. Salma would have been good too. |

Selena's voice was beautiful. Such a sad tragic end for a wonderful talent. "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom," "Techno Cumbia," and "Amor Prohibido" are some of my favorites. I agree, Jennifer did a good job in the movie. Salma would have been great also. I for one would be forever grateful if someone could talk Jennifer Lopez into retiring from the music business. I almost had a stroke when I heard her version of "You Belong to Me." Vicious and unprovoked is the only way to describe it. |

Sis Detroit: I had seen J-Lo in Janet Jackson's video and in a couple of movies before she did Selena. She was in Mi Familia with Edward James Olmos and She was in Money Train with Wesley Snipes. She's really a good actress, imo. |

In Selena, I would give her a 9 out of 10 in her performance. After Selena, I saw her in two movies. I remember one of them was maid in manhattan. She was a natural in that movie. The part was an easy part. I can't remember the other one. But on both of those I would give her a 5 out of 10. |

Johneflat - Now you know I wish I had curves like that. Dinelle - Are you asking who Andy Garcia is, or was it Selena?? If it was you, Andy Garcia is an actor. You can see him in the Godfather III as Vincent Mancini, Michael's nephew. (Andy plays an important role in that film. You must see Godfather-3) You can see him in "When A Man Loves A Woman", and currently on cable, you can see him in "Hero." (Message edited by sis on September 02, 2004) |

I thought Jennifer was pretty curvy in her own right. Sis Detroit was it Anaconda you saw her in? She was in a lot of movies after Selena. She was also in U-Turn with Sean Penn. |

soulseeker - No, I didn't watch Anaconda. Is that the film where there are big snakes. If so, you'd better believe I didn't watch it. I don't like snakes. When I think of the film, I'm thinking of Detroit (Don't know why). She checks into a hotel. It may have been Mel Brooks in it. There was a van with a black guy driving. They went to this house where the owner was held hostage. J-Lo followed them there. The starring male character kills all of the criminals. That's all I remember. :o) |

SisDetroit What a description LOL! If its Albert Brooks you're talking about I think the movie is Out of Sight w/George Clooney. Ving Rhames and Don Cheadle was in that movie also. I've only seen parts of it so I don't know the plot. |

Jennifer Lopez was also in the '90s TV show, "South Central" starring Larenz Tate and Tina Lifford. She played the other checkout clerk. It was a great show that like so many others, got cancelled because some idiot exec made programming changes "because he could." In the late '80s, CBS put on a clinic in how to ruin a great show with "Frank's Place." |

SIS...I believe we all have the bodies we want underneath......we just choose different coverings! On the flip side, i understand there was "work done" on certain posterior areas of Selena, whereas, to my knowledge, JLO remains untouched by the surgeon's skills.... |

BTW, did you know that as a kid, Selena loved to listen to music? She loved R&B artists like Little Anthony & The Imperials, A Taste of Honey, Janet Jackson, and her all-time favorite, Donna Summer. She also loved Bonnie Rait and Garth Brooks. I don't know if she liked the Motown sound. She never said that in any of the interviews that I listened to. |
