As an extention of the excellent thread entitled 'Commercials", do any of you SDers have any "Commercial Concepts" of their own?

Just make believe that you are a struggling ad exec trying to impress the "boss man" with your new ideas.

KFC over here in the UK currently use classic Northern Soul and soul tracks for their campaign. I believe their current track is The Chi Lites/What do I wish for. I suggested to the KFC ad agency in London they do their next UK Northern Soul campaign commercial like this:

It is 10pm and dark. A long queue of young people heading for an all nighter, with their bag, Northern Soul badges on their jackets, their appropriate attire to dance in, with a great stomper playing in the background. Cuts to outside shot of the venue, with its name in lights and the music slightly louder. It is cold and damp so evidence of steamy breath from people outside. Camera moves to include kids going in excited and practising their steps. But, further back in the queue, it is revealed the same kids are actually queuing to go into a KFC further down the road to buy their favourite meal, before dancing the night away at the gig. Of course the queue continues out the KFC doorway all the way to the club where they are heading. Everyone has a smiling face because they have eaten well and are looking forward to dancing the night away. Final shot in the venue, full volume music, kids doing their Northern Soul dance, with at least one of them showering the floor with Johnsons baby talc. Final shot to freeze frame, a dancer in mid air with an intricate dance move with his/her shirt displaying a number of badges, including a KFC keep the faith motif. A collectors edition available with a CD of the music that has been played on the commercials over the last year or so.

The ad agency in the UK have been onto Soulfuldetroit, with a view to showing KFC the enormous interest in Detroit soul, Northern Soul, Soul and TSOP. Some people dont like the ad agencies using this style of music. Frankly, I do and the number people that then start to collect it as a result must be on the increase. Even though just a snippet of the song, it is a great way to introduce a new audience to an already established phenomenon.

Alternatively, you could just take a cool bottle of Alsace Gewurztraminer, a round of Munster cheese, some crackers and your favourite soul tacks on CD and listen down by he river on a lazy, sunny afternoon. Either way, you won't be hungry!
