I just purchased the 'Deluxe Edition of Standing in the Shadows of Motown' which has 2 CDs and it is INCREDIBLE! I had the original CD and then loaned it to one of 'my kids' and he liked it so much that he told me I could not have it back. That is alright with me as another 'oldies' CD with a young one is good!

If you can get the Deluxe CD, it has the Funks talking about songs, working together, Motown, etc. The music is so incredible without voices that all could have been hits without singers. It makes me angry that it took so long for these musicians to be recognized but I am glad it is happening.

Hate to choose favorites but Uriel and Jack, this note is for you and THANKS!

You're my everything with just Jamerson & the Temptations is haunting. Especially Kendricks' voice on that bassline. They are in perfect harmony. Jamerson's bassline sounds like a melody line. And the harmonies are right on point. Another favorite is I second that emotion. You can listen to clips of all the songs here if anyone is interested. http://www.towerrecords.com/product.aspx?pfid=2993855

That will be an awesome addition to any CD collection right now, I love the "Deluxe Editions" of classic soul albums from Universal (such as Rick James' "Street Songs" and Lionel Richie's "Can't Slow Down"), they expand the appeal and value of the original albums w/bonus tracks and versions of songs that us fans would've never heard anywhere else. The $25-30 price tag may be a bit steep for some fans, but it it definitely worth the money in terms of faithful repackaging, extras and of course, top-notch digital remastering by the Universal Mastering Studios engineers. But has anyone picked up a copy of the Funk Bros.' "20th Century Masters" series CD? I need to get my copy as soon as possible. That will be a perfect compliment to the Deluxe Edition of the "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown" CD and DVD. Oh, by the way, I give the film "****".
