I'm in the process of listening to Angie's new album 'Stone Love', so far so good. This young lady is really old-school. She samples some great songs: Stoned Love(The Supremes), Come Into My Life(Joyce Sims), All This Love(DeBarge), La La Means I Love You(The Delfonics), The Stars In Your Eyes(The Dramatics). Just wanna know how y'all feel about Ms Stone. I've purchased her previous cds and I really like her. Quite under-rated in my opinion. |

Ryon6, she is under-rated! Do you remember her from the rap trio- Sequence? Their big hit was "Funk You Up-'79. She was also a part of a group called Vertical Hold and they had a few hits, one being "Seems Your Just To Busy. They also did a re-make of the Isley's "Don't Say Goodnight." The 2nd album Head First was released in '95 and did little, but was a decent album. I haven't had a chance to hear her new release yet, but from what you are saying, it sounds good. Yes, this sister has been around for a little while now, accomplished writer/singer/musician. |

Charise, Indeed I remember Angie from Sequence, which I didn't care for but I dug me some Vertical Hold. "Seems You're Much Too Busy", think I'll put it on the turntable when I get home tonight. |

This is a good cd,which deserves your attention. It won't be to everyone's taste on this forum, particularly for those that dislike samples but her sound continues to mature, and you owe it to yourself, to at least hear it before you make your mind up. 7 out of 10 for me. |

I liked her work with Vertical Hold but the production and lack of real songs has put me off with some of her later stuff. Good voice though. |

I've seen her live recently, a great concert. Much better I think than her albums. Those are ok, but lack real good songs. Her music consists mainly of catchy grooves in stead of great lyrics & melodies. Also the production IMO sounds too would-be modern R&B. Live it's a real classic soul show, much better! |

Angie is a decent singer, not great, but decent ,and she would most def benefit by recording with live musicians, while there are still some left. |

I love Angie Stone. I have her last CD (Mahogany Soul) and I plan to get this new one. I also want to see her in concert when she comes to DC in September. Anthony Hamilton is opening for her. It should be a good show. |
