Harry you are looking good. Good for you.

Are you coming back next year???

(BTW: Guess who Mr. Wendal played for last night, and guess who showed up at the affair, and sung? Right!! Unlike what some people may think, I miss out on quite a bit of the fun. :-)

Very nice Harry. Looks like you are an integral part of the scene. You will be on stage next singing your heart out. How did you manage to remove that graphic off the tee shirt in the last two photos?

Well, it's not really spilling the beans, it's just that he had asked me to go to a concert with him Saturday to see Enchantment, Floaters, and New Birth. I agreed to go. However, he called me back and informed me that he couldn't go to that concert because Harley wanted him to come over and play for Jimmy at an affair at his home. (You met Harley, who is Ali's manager here.)

Anyway, Saturday, we were over to Mother's house, so when Benny picks him up for the gig, he asked me if I wanted to go, I declined because I was disappointed in not going to see New Birth and Enchantment. I hadn't made other arrangments, and I didn't want to go alone. I really didn't feel like seeing Jimmy. Plus, earlier this week Jimmy told me Ali had gone back to California. So, I didn't go over to Harley's house. So, instead of going to the concert, I just visited with my mother.

The next day, Mr. W called me and told me that Ali was there, and whenever they wanted Ali to sing he did. He said they had a great time, and Ali was in a fantastic mood, enjoying everyone. After the people started leaving, Mr. W began playing "Walk Away From Love" on the piano and asked Ali if he knew it. Ali said yes, and he began singing it. Mr. W said Ali did a great job on that song, and enjoyed singing it.

DMeikle, now you know I would have loved being there to hear Ali sing one of my favorite DRuffin songs. Like I said, I miss out on quite a bit in the City. There is just so much going on, I just can't make them all. :-)

Harry, you certainly do look happy and who wouldn't be rubbing elbows with Laura Lee and Ali! Good for you!

Sis, have you forgiven yourself yet for not going with Mr. W? :-)

No, I haven't Karyl. Also on Saturday, Jerry Butler and the Impressions were at the Mich State Fair.

The only music I heard on Saturday was provided by Mr. Bus Driver, one of my brothers, and I got a few family photos. :-)

Thanks Dinelle and especially Harry.

Sis, "Walk away from love" is wonderful!

Is Mr Bus Driver named after another DR song? Probably not but that is another DR classic.

This summer in Detroit was sensational. Next year I/we'll back same time of year. It is difficult to explain to people that this city, which is so reviled by the media, is such an incredible place to visit.

By far the best city I have been to for music, music history, friendship and fun.

Detroit we love you and owe you!

You are right DMeikle. One of my brothers drives a City bus, and DRuffin is his favorite lead and solo artist. So, we call him Mr. Bus Driver. This particular brother acts as a DJ as well for parties. His theme song is, of course, "Mr. Bus Driver" by DRuffin.

Perhaps you will meet him next year. Maybe I can convince him to have a party for you, Harry, and Carl. You'd be surprised at who attends his parties.

Harry - We had so much fun with you. As quiet as you are on this Forum, you sure kept us laughing when you were here. LOL

A house party in Detroit would be something else.

Ask for a loan of AJ'S jukebox

That is Cyril's jukebox.

You know Cyril and I are always bickering. So, last week I asked him if he wanted to sell his jukebox. I told him he wasn't doing anything with it, it was collecting dust, and I would put it to use. We ended up bickering as usual. LOL.

Here's a good excuse to show Don Juan Mancha in front of AJ'S JB.

Don was THE man behind many great Detroit recordings.

What a nice photo. Thanks for sharing.

Could you also upload a couple of the photos you took at Greektown? I know you took some backstage, and a couple shots on stage. Remember that guy watching you. LOL

If you'd rather not upload, would you email me a copy?

Sis

I will upload these by the weekend.

I have a great one of Mr Wendall which I will also bring with me in hard copy next year.

It was sad how negative the Casino people were about photographs. I did manage a few under duress however. Glad I didn't get thrown out
