They preformed on the J.C. Show at Lowe's with other groups including Wilbur Hart's Delfonics, The Persuaders, The Escorts (who stole the show!)and others such as J.C.'s "Prime", etc... Cliff did his thing well but they stunk, were the worst group on the show and weren't asked back again. The four girls did back up, one being Cliffy's daughter "all sang on the same note" (?) terrible, trying t keep up with him and couldn't sing a lick. Cliffy's presentation and dress made everyone think "who the hell does he think he is"? A take off on Mr. Bigg, and Ron Isley is the only one who can pull that role off! People were turned off by it and the performance. Cliff's voice was well enough but they couldn't pull it off with the girls. End of report. thats a sad commentery Juice, but the facts none the less. Hi Soul Sister I have to be honest, I just couldn't imagine it working out too well. Now, Martha Wash & Izora could pull off handling a mans' parts, as they have incredible range & power. In this case, there would have to be a difference in the sound that we've come to expect to hear. Furthermore, I have a problem with the fact that when I think of Soul Generation, I think of a group of MEN, not a man, his daughter & a couple of other women. To me, it's false advertising & simply isn't the Soul Generation, plain & simple. I'm not against anyone trying to get paid, we all must eat. Regardless, this incarnation was simply an ill conceived idea & it would behoove Mr Perkins to round up a group that better mirrors the original image of the Soul Generation. I don't think that the ladies want to hear other women singing Body & Soul, Million Dollars or I Wonder What's She's Doing to them....or would they???? These days, ANYTHING is possible. Like The Delfonics sang: Down Is Up, Up Is Down |
