Looks like the O'Jays sold a bunch of albums on PIR. Did they sell more than Teddy Pendergrass?

That's a solid looking list, factually it lays all over Motown's...

Well by the early '80s I knew about the certifications of most of these songs and LP's. There's no surprises, no glaring omissions, etc.

Jimmy Mack, "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else" peaked at #38 on Billboard's Hot 100 in addition to making #5 on the Hot Soul Singles chart.

No problem Soulseeker. I used to follow the lists and certifications in the late 70's and early '80s and the stuff I remember certainly agrees with this list. I was also checking on some certifications on some Motown acts--totally different story...

LOL I went to the RIAA website and checked as well. Pretty sparse listings for Motown's golden era.

You've got that right, sparse listings, heh heh.

I saw on the RIAA site that Patti LaBelle's "I'm In Love Again" was gold too. No shock there, don't need any Motown revision for that one, it sold and was certified by '84.

DVDmike, are there any Gold & Platinum certifications for albums/singles for MFSB (any more other than TSOP), The Trammps, The Intruders, Archie Bell & The Drells, Instant Funk (under the TSOP label, but still associated with PIR) and The Ebonys?

Archie Bell & The Drells had a gold single with "Tighten Up" for Atlantic certified on May 22, 1968 and Instant Funk's "I Got My Mind Made Up" for Salsoul was certified Gold on April 2, 1979 and the "Instant Funk" LP for Salsoul was certified Gold on April 18, 1979. None of those other artists had Gold records elsewhere.
