Can anybody help with a great sound that is completely unknown to me.The record in question is ---BILL by Peggy Scott but it could have come out as by Peggy Scott Adams,i think it,s about 1985?,and i believe it was quite succcesful in the U.S. charts.Anyone who knows this tune will be aware of it,s topic and the superb twist at the end of the song.ANY HELP ON AVAILIBILITY MUCH APPRECIATED.

Hi Tony C,

Peggy Scott-Adams is the same Peggy Scott who recorded Lover's Holiday, Picking Wild Mountain Berries & Soulshake, with Jo Jo Benson in the 'late '60s. After the '60s, she left the recording industry & sang in lounges in Florida. She moved to California & married a Comissioner sometime in the 80s.

She released Bill on Miss Butch records (Miss Butch 2208) in 1997. It charted R&B on 3/22/97,had a 10 week stay & peaked at #50. The name of the CD is "Help Yourself" & should be quite available. You should be able to find it for about $13, US dollars. Try Gemm or Amazon.com.

I hope that this helps!

Hey!

I remember on the radio Herb Kent had played "Bill" by Peggy Scott Adams & then turned right around and played The Marvelettes-Don't Mess With Bill! That was so funny to me!

Tony, there's an in depth article about Peggy Scott-Adams, in the latest ITB magazine. Among the others artists featured are Lenny Williams, Randy Brown, Eloise Laws and Garland Green. It's time to suscribe !!!

Great record, Tony!

The UK label Dome Records issued the CD and a single of "Bill" in the late '90s, so you might find them in UK stores.

BTW, there's a fine Peggy Scott-Adams article/interview in the latest issue of the excellent UK magazine "In The Basement".

Hey ,Soul brother i appreciate your comments ,but how many sounds in the U.K.that we count as classics from 30/40 yrs ago do we love and people on the other side of the pond don,t even know of their exsistence. It would be a sad day if we all knew every record, surely we are all there to share knowledge with each other(or that,s the way it has been for years).

Hi!

I recently received the new Peggy Scott-Adams gospel cd, also on Jimmy Lewis' label, Miss Butch Records. Her singing is as great as ever, but I just hate those machines and programming and that Jimmy's doubled saccrahine background vocals. I tolerate this record only because of Peggy's vocals.

Best regards
Heikki
