Greetings All, Name some of your favorite songs from back in the day - and that were done by the likes of Billie Holliday - Billy Eckstine - Frank Sinatra - Ella F. - Jimmy Scott - Tony Bennett - Sammy Davis Jr. Dean Martin - Nat King Cole - and many more of the wonderful and gifted entertainers that used to give and share so much. I could go on - but one tune that got in my head and I can't get out is: "Isn't it Romantic." LOL! I can't remember the movie it was in - but I love that song. "Sentimental reasons" "You Send Me" "Moon River", and those kind of songs. When one really thinks about it - many of these tunes were truly done up beautifully and masterfully. Click on Gershwin & Irvin Berlin on the below link. Most of these songs are standards - classics and masterpieces - and bring back good memories for me when hearing them. I have been playing some clips. My God! Most of them are 59 secs. "Outstanding" http://www.jr.com/JRSectionVie w.process?ArtistPage=t&N=75022 4+4294950164&Ne=600 |

Hello Submarine again, friends! Hello, Soul Sister! Except the very hot temperatures, all is well here, thanks! Hope you have had (or have soon) funy summer holidays. I'm wondering how sounds "My One and Only Love" by Jackie Wilson. Here in Spain, the music criticals called him as "The Mario Lanza Of Soul"! Also, i'm sorry. The last times i comes to Barcelona i wanna to search many interesting things that you and other SDF friends have suggested as Jimmy Scott discpgraphy, but the problem is i come to Barcelona with the children and when we have visited the Zoo, the Aquarium, etc. all the music stores are closed!! Another "standard" i lkes a lot is "Fever" by La Lupe. Peace & Soul Food |

Hi Manny; This has been a relaxing summer for the most part. The music critics in Spain are right-on with that accessment of Jackie's voice. Mr. Lanza was an idol of Jackie's. Manny, can you post your email? I may be able to help a little. S.S. |

Hello, DyvaNaye!! I'm glad to see you have back some days ago (as Isaiah)! I also likes "I'll Be seen You" (I have heard in some films). I got a vey good cover by O'Jays with a nice falsetto. Also somebody mentioned "Stranger In Paradise" that also i heard in films and some TV commercials. I got one cover by Isaac Hayes very soulful. Two more: "Tomorrow" (from musical "Annie") by Lou Rawls "Let The Sunshine In" (from musical "Hair") by Little Anthony & The Imperials Peace! |
