Some of todays' Music Videos are not are just a bit too much to watch.
Videos of the Artist performing the song is fine, but
Have you ever wondered if they had music videos in the 60's for Soul songs as they have for todays' music?
Could You imagine Music Videos for songs like~
My Girl ~Tempts
Love Wont Let Me Wait~Major Harris
Midnight Train To Georgia~Gladys Knght & Pips
La La Means I Love You ~Delphonics
Why Was I Born~Jimmy Scott
Don't Mess With Bill~Marvellettes
I Want You To Have Evrything~Lee Rogers
Shop Around/You Really Got A Hold On Me~Miracles
Come Get To This~Marvin
Marvin & Tammi Songs
So In Love~The Tymes
The Boardwalk~Drifters
Rescue Me~Fontella Bass
What kind of influence do you think it would have on it's viewers, and what do you think your favorite Music (60's Soul) Video would be?

Hey Medusa;
Funny you should mention "Why Was I Born" by Jimmy. He & I were discussing the very same thing the other day. I want to put some of the concert footage we have on him over the last 20 years on DVD. Wish we had early footage too other than what's on the Bravo Profiles Jazz Masters Documentry. I have awesome footage of Jimmy singing "Why Was I Born" and other tear your heart out songs from 1987 at the Lone Star Roadhouse in N.Y.C. Thats the first one I'd like to get on DVD! It's like an Apollo performance & audience going insane, lol!!

I'd also like to see 'JB' from 1965-67 live!
Otis Redding-1965-1968.
Jackie Wilson-Any & All footage!
The Dominoes!
Early Miracles.
Early Little Anthony & The Imperials.
The O'Jays.
The Manhattans 1965 thru today!
Walter Jackson-circa 1966.
The Jive Five-1966-1968.
Linda Jones
The incomparable Big Maybelle!
Little Miss Cornshucks!
The Nicholas Brothers!

Those films coming out on DVD would make me one happy little girl!LOL!!:-)
S.S.

Well, Otis, Sam & Dave, the Chambers Bros and Wilson Pickett and probably more I never tracked down, all played shows in Stockholm which were broadcast on either radio or tv, I've seen the Sam & Dave footage, never the Wilson Pickett show but the audio sdtk of that 1 is one of the hottest concerts I've ever heard... there are a number of James Brown tv appearances too, although most of mine consist of multiple takes of the same few songs (I Got You, etc), there's also a really heavy video of the free show JB played at Boston Garden @ LBJ's request the night Martin Luther King was assassinated. Things get a little rowdy, but JB takes charge, coming between cops & fans climbing up on stage when the houselights are turned on...

I think it would influence today's stars to put more taste in the videos. Too much exposure and sex if you ask me on these videos. In the early sixties, to me sex wasn't so overt, but subtle as for example the Temptations exuded sex appeal in a quiet way, left to the imagination IMO.

I would love to see:
The Temptations
Smokey and the Miracles
Marvin Gaye
Jackie Wilson
O'Jays
The Whispers
The Manhattans
Marvin and Tammi
Definitely Major Harris
Isley Brothers (especially the 70s stuff)
Smokey Robinson solo
Jackson 5
Joe Tex
Bobby Womack
David Ruffin
Eddie Kendricks
Dennis Edwards
Sam Cooke

S.S.-I agree with The Nicholas Brothers! Girl, they were BAD!!

I'd love to see videos of most of The Supremes, The Temptation, and The Miracles' performances. I'd really love to see the clip of Marvin and Tammi where they're outside. It's the clip where Tammi's wearing that light blue outfit with the hat to match. I heard Tammi starts making some stupid-looking faces behind Marvin's back. I'd give anything to see that.

BTW, I know a site where you could see Motown video and audio clips: http://www.sixtiesmotown.co.uk. You can see some of the clips, but not all of them. I wish we could see all of them. See ya!

Thanx Dinelle,
I've seen that one, but I was actually talking about when the singer is singing, and the video is corresponding to the story that the song is telling... You know, like the videos of todays' music. I should've said that in the beginning.
~sorry~

I used to hear my Dad talk about Bullmoose Jackson, around the same time my Mother would be talking about Dinah Washington.
