Here's a very useful site devoted to listing records made by Ohio soul acts. There's a few people in there who are usually written about as being from Detroit or Chicago - an impressive site, well worth a look www.ohiosoulrecordings.com Davie |

Excellent...I'll have to check that out (especially since I'm from Northeast Ohio...LOL)! Incidentally, the Capsoul CD that I believe I mentioned here a while back was reviewed (quite positively, I might add) in this week's issue of Scene Magazine (a weekly free paper here in Cleveland). The reviewer also discusses Tuff City's newest releases, "Funky Funky Detroit" and "Funky Funky Chicago", as well, and gives the thumbs up to both of those. The title of the Capsoul CD is "Eccentric Soul: The Capsoul Label", and it is only available on line at http://www.numerogroup.com I'll have to check Scene's site and see if this review appears on line--if so, I'll post a link so that you all can read it. Best, Mark |

I'll second Johneflat. I'll look for some long lost tracks and maybe add a few. Thank you Davie. |

Davie Enjoyed the beers last night! You are correct about this site BTW the creator, Dante Carfagna, joined SD this week so I'm hoping to hear from him on your thread. Remember and post the link for your Amy/Mala/Bell site. David |

Excellent site!!! There were a few missing from 1966-67, but overall, a fantastic job. I wish the time period would have started in at least 1963, as 1967 is already pretty much out of my interest period. But this was a great source for seeing the local original labels of picked up recordings. It was also good to see the in-between releases on Ohio labels that never got to Detroit or Chicago. |
