Hi this is Kev-Lo you know when we talk about memphis soul of course there's the immortal Otis Redding along with Rufus and Carla and Booker T. and the MG's.But the Mad-Lads had that sweet soulful sound that had you slow draging at a house party. With songs like I DON'T HAVE TO SHOP AROUND,which always reminds me of the 1965 New York City Blackout.I just cannot get enough of it. other soul classics they made like I WANT SOMEONE,I WANT A GIRL,and SO NICE were some of the greatest memphis soul songs ever.We must acknowledge this classic soul group. |

Kev lo, I remember the guys on the corner singing, "I Want A Girl" and slow dragging to "So Nice" at the houseparties. Whew, you just made my hair "go back". (The ladies know what I'm talkin bout.) (Message edited by Nosey on August 11, 2004) |

Hi this is Kev-Lo Hi nosey I'm glad you remember that those were the good old days and speaking of house parties that was when you really partied and you had a good time unlike the way it is today. It's too bad these kids today don't know what a house party really is. |

Kev, Remember? I'll never forget. "I Don't Have to Shop Around" was like the wino's national anthem in my hood. We'd be walking through the hood...next thing you know somebody's grabbing you round the neck going, "c'mon I needs me another tenor" For a long time I assumed that they recorded with the Persuaders, until I checked on the Net one day and found out they recorded with Stax. Like the Persuaders, it was very hard to get their sound on a street corner, but on dozens of nights we tried. |
