Hi Ralph I know it's not a particular soul matter, but as it was recorded at Tera Shirma (as far as I know) it may fit in a little bit! I just bought the one-off record from "Jonathon Round" and I was wondering, whatever happend to that guy! I talked to my Dad about him and he told me, that he was a hell of a crazy guy, but that he has now clue what happend to him. The album is very well crafted folk and blues rock (produced by Dennis Coffey and Mike Theodore). J.Round did a incredible job as singer and songwriter and it includes appearances by Bob Babbitt, Jack Ashford and Dennis Coffey! Maybe you or somebody else out there can shed a light on him and his career! Thanks Darin |

I saw an article that mentioned him a couple years ago. I think it said he was teaching acting at some Detroit area Community College, but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure I mentioned this on the old forum, but I used to work for a concert promoter in Battle Creek Mi. in '73-'74 and we had him open for some rock band, it may have been Catfish or Jo Jo Gunne, I dont remember. Anyway, he came out with just an accoustic guitar and held a couple thousand people spellbound. His big finale was Sympathy For the Devil; He had one small spotlight on his face and he somehow turned crimson and really demonic looking. I'm not a big fan of theatrics as a rule and usually would find somthing like this silly, but he was amazing. I'd hear his name after that , but I never saw him again. |

Hello Steve, thanks for the respond. That's sounds very plausible, as I found several mention about a Jonathan Round directing plays in the Detroit area! Wasn't sure if it's the same guy. I like his version of "Sympathy for the devil" as it's very mean and creepy, fitting well to it's meaning! My Dad told me a story about the album release party back then, where Jonathon Round spiked marijuana with heroin without telling anybody, which caused a major panic with several people ending in hospital... weird... Darin, The title of the thread stopped me cold. I had forgotten this name until I saw the thread. Wish I could tell you more but I can't. |

Darin, You beat me to the punch. I was going to start a thread on him. I picked up his album at a garage sale or something a little while back. I need to know more! |

Hello everyone. Mike and I produced Johnathan for Westbound. I read he used to teach actors workshops in Detroit but don't know where he is now. |

According to my Dad, Mike Theodore had the idea for the round record sleeve which worked well with his last name. They had a hard time getting that done back then, beause that wasn't done before. Unfortunately my copy of the album is printed in germany with regular square sleeve! @phil you won't regret buying a copy (okay, you better don't buy it for 115$, don't know why that seller calls such en enormous sum). It's really worth listening! Darin |

Darin, thanks for the pic. But from the cover, (a white guy looking like John Lennon),I'm not sure if I'd like it ! |

I guess the front cover treats him nice, looking on the back cover you see a fat 120 kilo guy... not much like Lennon ;-) I don't know if you like folk rock with acoustic guitars and much orchestration and a blend of soul music. But I'm pretty sure your wheren't dissapointed after hearing it... but..you'll never know Cheers Darin |
