Bobby- KG seems busy with other ventures now. He didn't seem to work very much with Leon in the later years. Maybe too much time spent working together in the studio?? Do you think there is a realistic chance of it happening..and is Leon still into music - or does he have other inetrests these days? |

Happy Belated(likewise)Mr. Kenneth Gamble... I am more than just a fan of the music, but an admirer of the man behind the music... It may well be that your life AFTER the music becomes far more important than any single piece of music you've ever done, and that's a life well-lived... May you live to be able to say that, and more, to your great-great-great-great-great grandchildren, Kenny Gamble... I utter only a few names in this game in hushed reverence, and yours is definitely among them... Peace! Isaiah |

Mike, Kenny has a re development/ constructio/reality company called Universal Properties. He has been literaly tearing down the projects and replacing them with affordable, modern mostly low income townhouses as well as owning several schools and various other businesses. One day , very recently I asked him if and when he plans to go back into the studio and continue where him and Huff left off, and his answer was " when I feel it..Ive got to feel it, brother Eli. Huff is basically 'semi retired'. His son Pop Pop is doing some rap projects. I believe that if and when the time is right, they will go back in. |

Hi! I believe G & H practically not produced nothing after their Dells CD "I Salute You" and some albums of Phyllis Hyman in the first 90's. In their very poor informative web-site appears some acts as Grace Little and No Question who perhaps are hip-hop acts produced by more younger people in the new PIR-Zoo label. (Somebody knows about?). It's some sad but totally understandly that they are now out of the music bussines. Gamble & Huff, IMHO are honest people. Leon says this many time ago. If today is in a semi-retirement is because "His Body Won't Move If He Can't Feel The Groove". Peace! |

Manny, Zoo was a label ran by Lou Maglia in NYC, and they distributed PIR for a short while with no success. The Dells album was not one of their best and the choice of material was not thought out well and most of it was done "with machines", and not deserved for a group a great as the Dells. Phyllis also should have had better material and production, and I know that part of her depression was based on not being given "A" material for such a long time, as well as other underlying problems. No Question were a run of the mill Philly hip hop/"r&b" singing group who are no more due to internal problems. They were leased to Ruffnation, which is no more, for a minute also with no success. Grace Little is a decent singer. Unfortunately the record was below sub par. |

Hello Submarine to all! Hi, Bobby, Many thanks for your (as allways) good and first-hand info. The sound done "with machine" make me losting interest in the general R&B - soul scene. I remember the first time one artist i likes as The O'Jays, abused of this sound in "Love Fever" album and also in "Let Me Touch You". Anyway, i can separate the quality vocals and the "feel" of some songs from the "big-band-less" sound. As a symphonic sound lover, I hope someday a big orchestra with a big string section were again interesting and economically accesible in the music bussines. Peace & Soul Food! |
