Phil, it's great to see you posting to our wonderful SDF Family. I forgot to mention the Mohawks on my list of groups with family members. I know that your brother was part of the group. |

Medusa, Great list, I'm glad you included some of the groups that included Husband & Wife. Cherise, the list you posted is great, the group doesn't have to be all family members, but there must be at least a family relationship among two members. The relationship can be either through marriage or blood. Medusa's list is a great example of marital relationships. (Message edited by Vonnie on August 09, 2004) |

Vonnie, the Bobbettes included two sisters Emma and Janice Pought You'll be kicking yourself for forgetting the Soul Survivors - Charlie and Richard Ingui :-) And a Soul Survivors spin-off group the Beckmeier Brothers. The Lewis Sisters (on Motown's VIP label) Brotherly Love (on HDH's Music Merchant label) The Ronettes ! The Royalettes I think we should restrict this to brothers / sisters / parents - if we get into cousins we could go on forever. |

That's 'cause idiot me spelled it wrong (that's what get going from memory). Sonny TALBERT played Keyboards for Sunn during their Sun is Here period. His brother Billy played keyboards and guitar with Shotgun. The latter group was signed to ABC records and had a minor hit with track called Love Attack (great record)in 1978. |

Hey Re Re & Handsome, That whole situation got pretty deep, with charges of assault & it was pretty nasty. Then, he also did his own solo LP. I kinda think that Angela got the best of the deal overall. I think that Angela was the wheel that made the duo spin. Hey brother Handsome, Juice is right I just picked up on the thread and Angela was so pissed at Rene that she would rarely if ever talk about the brother. In my opinion ole boy messed up a good thing, not only was she fine but she could write and sing her but off. They were my favorite Marvin/Tammi like duo until all hell broke loose. And we all know who was waiting in the wings...Mr. Big. One other note my friend. Angela was the producer of Lalah Hathaways first LP and her signature sound is all over that album. She had Lalah singing like her, man I wish I could have been at those sessions....Handsome remember Baby, Baby Dont Cry by Lalah....no not Smokeys.......smile for me now Kdubya |

Kdub, I love me some Lalah, and think I have most of everything she made inclusive of the first 2 lps/cds, Love Like This-Grover Washington, When You Life Was Low-Joe Sample (cds), Summer Breeze w/ Big Bub (no relation to Kdub, but was a member of the group Today-Him or me fame). This song is on Wayman Tisdale's cd on Motown. Then I have Eric Bene't & Lalah singing a song together on a David Sanbborn cd (forgot the name.) Handsome |

1Wicked my favourite SHOTGUN jam was 'SKATE' from the III LP and this track had a severe bass line... man they used it to do a 'speeding minute' at the roller disco and I used to fly like the wind on this one LOL (even broke my wrist once on it so I ain't about to forget that one!) Handsome, my favourite McCrary's song was 'Love On A Summer Night'... great song for this time of the year I tell you... it's from the album ALL NIGHT LONG... if anyone has it pck it up and play it after 10pm... love those harmonies... Juice as a DJ did U use to play 'Banging On The Boogie' by Ren & Angela? I thought it was a rip-off 'Shake Your Body' by the Jacksons but it worked quite well with the skaters... otherwise my favourite R&A LP was WALL TO WALL with the great 'Secret Rendez-Vous' Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go! |

I don't know where I got the info that they were related, but I must have heard it early on because it was etched in my head...my apologies to Medusa. No Paulie, you're not funny...not at all!! (I've seen "Goodfellas", so I'll never call you funny). I mentioned the Beach Boys near the top of the thread. Three brothers: Carl (passed a couple of years ago, cancer), Dennis (drowned around 1983), and the great Brian Wilson. They were joined by their cousin Mike Love (whose daughter Dennis Wilson had a child by...go figure), and friend Al Jardine. |

Vonnie, I cannot believe you mentioned my homies from Cleveland, The Ponderosa Twins Plus One. (2 sets of Identical twins plus Ricky Spicer) Who were supposed to accompany the O'Jays, Billy Paul and the Intruders to London when they did the live album. I went to school with Ricky Spicer and sang with Keith and Kevin Gardner's cousin in the Deltones from Cleveland. Another one of my group member s from the Deltones is now the third guy in the O'Jays Eric Grant. You took me back with that one. Do you remember a group from Cleveland called "Cash"? They were twin brothers also. Bobby Rogers and Claudette Rogers (Robinson) of the Miracles are siblings? When Zapp first started there were four brothers(Roger, Zapp, Lester and Larry) and later little Roger played with Zapp) Mass Production (twin brothers) The Dynamic Superiors (lead singer had a brother in the group) The Gap Band The Dazz Band (Mike and Ike Wiley) Xscape (2 sisters) Calloway (post Midnight Star) (I Wanna Be Rich) Gospel The Williams Brothers (Melvin, Doug and Leonard) The Jackson Southernaires The Canton Spirituals The Christianaires |

Yes, Lady M, you are correct. Although I'd be in danger of losing my Soul/Funk card, I must admit that I liked "The Rain, The Park & Other Things". When we were kids, my older sister used to walk to school. For some reason, when I used to watch her walk to school, I'd think of that song. I guess that it was the harmonies or something. I haven't thought of that in a long time & now that I have, I still don't get it. Hey, whatddya want. I was only 7 years old |

The Rain, The Park, And Other Things The Cowsills I saw her sitting in the rain, raindrops falling on her. She didn't seem to care. She sat there and smiled at me. And I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew) she could make me happy (happy, happy). (She had made me happy.) Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere. I love the flower girl, oh, I don't know just why. She simply caught my eye. I love the flower girl, she seemed so sweet and kind. She crept into my mind. (Into my mind.) I knew I had to hello (Hello, hello). She smiled up at me. And she took my hand And we walked through the park alone. (Into my mind.) Suddenly the sun broke through (see the sun). I turned around she was gone (where did she go). And all I had left was one little flower from her hair. But I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew) she had made me happy (happy, happy). Flowers in her hair, flowers everywhere. I love the flower girl. Was she reality or just a dream to me? I love the flower girl. And thou show me the way, to find a sunny day (sunny, sunny day) |

Hey, we were kids Gil: Thanks a lot. I began to have visions of my James Brown, Lakeside & Slave records walking out the door on me. I feel better now Kavee: Thanks for the info about The Ponderosa Twins. So, what are the fellas doing these days?? Handsome: What's up?? Yes, Rene & Angela were pretty good for awhile. I remember reading here once a post that said the Angela couldn't sing. I was like, what were they thinking?? When you hear her range on Your Smile & Angel, it was ridiculous. Angela has a hell of a voice!! The only time that she annoyed me was when she appeared on Sinbads' Summer Jam with Ronnie. She came down a LOOOONNNNNG flight of stairs & it took her like 5 minutes to hit the stage. All the while, she was hitting some Minnie Riperton notes & low runs. After about 2 minutes of this, I started getting annoyed. That was the only time though. I may not be Mr Biggs, but, I'm more than willing to be Mr Smalls. Come home Angie....come on home girl...Said I'll be good there girrrllll Manny: Your Soulful technique is most excellent I also throw into the fray The Mac Band (Roses Are Red) |

Juice, you're membership card and records are going to be safe for a long time. Because before yours records can walk out the door, my P-Funk, EWF, James Brown, Lakeside, Zapp, Slave, Ohio Players, etc. collecton would have to trip all over my Archies, Partridge Family, Hardy Boys, Batman & Looney Tunes records before they could get out the door (I can't believe I just admitted that.) Seriously, i saw some times Mocedade's "Eres T" in some originally US various artists selections in the 70's. One was by Adam VIII LTD Records, where appears Mocedades, Billy Paul and El Chicano! Hey, Juicefree, brother, seriously "Kojack" also was a singer? Some other family related acts: - Brothers Adderly (Cannonball and Nat, played together) - Black Nasty (Matthews brothers, sons of Johnnie Mae Matthews) - Letta Mbulu and his husband Caiphus Semenya also recorded together Peace! |

Hi Manny my Soulful friend!! Yes, unfortunately Mr Kojak threw his hat in to the musical arena. On a few songs, he croaks, as I couldn't really call it "singing". On the others, he does more of a dramatic narrative to the songs music, as he does on his version of "If". To quote the Soulful Hermans Hermits, it is definitely "A Must To Avoid!!!!". You have to hear it to believe it!!! |
