"Out In The Country" - great song, also recorded
by Bobby Taylor on his "Taylor Made Soul" album
which deserves a CD release.

Yeah, it is a great album. "Out In The Country" is also my favorite from the album but there are a lot a great songs on this album that I don't understand how Motown passed this one up.

For those of you not in the know, Rick James wrote the song "Out In The Country" and its sad to say Rick passed away today/last night. You can also hear Rick in the background singing. Again, great song, fantastic album. I have number 15 out of 3500 (limited edition). It's worth buying, folks.

I e-mailed "Hip-O Select" about why they didn't release this CD and also the first Howard Tate CD to stores. They told me that they only made up as many copies as they thought would actually sell, so that thousands of copies would not end up in the cut-out bins. I suppose they're right to a degree. But the truth is, if these CD's would have been leased out to a small company like One Way or Sundazed, etc., they could have pressed more copies and everyone could have made a profit at a lower price. Hip-O Select charges $20. bucks apiece plus shipping. It's part of Universal, the largest music company in the world. Well, at least they're available, even if price is slightly high.

Lenny,
I personally don't think $20 plus shipping is (slightly) high when it comes to these cds. The David Ruffin cd has 11 bonus tracks, making it a total of 23 tracks. Plus the tracks are previously unreleased except for Each Day Is A Lifetime and I Want You Back. I applaud what Hip-O Select is doing, gearing (specific) product to the die-hard fans, limited edition cds.

I received my copy last weekend, after learning about it from this forum.

I love it to pieces, and play it constantly in the car.

I never imagined being able to buy unreleased tracks by David, so, as a one-off, the price is insignificant. It's worth its weight in gold.

Hello everyone.

I got my copy a couple of weeks back and have been playing it regularly since.

Lenny.

I now have now received my credit card bill and the total charge for it ( US $ 24.98 ), which includes mailing charges, has been translated into sterling as 13.78. This is LESS than a standard priced new (non-chart) U.K. release in the likes of HMV or Virgin in London, and considerably less than what is the normal charge for a U.S. import.

In other words, not only is it a musical treasure, it is also a bargain ( at least here in England ).

My C.D. is numbered 547 ( I think ) of 3500, so I guess that they should be still available for some time.

Roger

I love this CD, Harry Weinger gave me a copy when we went to see him in NY last month....
I love the beautiful backing vocals on a few of the tracks....LOVE IT!

It's so wonderful that David's fans can hear him after all of these years, it's old material but it's new - simply wonderful!
