"Welcome to my website. As the only living original member of The Temptations, I find myself serving both as a guardian of the past and as an architect of the future. What's The Temptations secret to having five generations of fans? Rather than chasing trends, we do what we do best. I wanted to create a site for our fans that not only celebrates where we have been, but lets you know what we are up to now, and what we are working on." "So check it out. Enjoy. Temptations. Forever." http://www.otiswilliams.net |

The sites not bad but somebody needs to get that guy a fact checker for his timeline. Eddie Kendricks passed away in 1992 not 1991 and his friend Melvin passed away in 1995 not 1994. |

Yeah some of those facts are off. I know "1990" didn't go platinum and "House Party" didn't go gold... It's a nice site though--better than what Motown did for them, they still have a pic of a "Phoenix Rising" guys on their website. |

Yes, I saw that. That needs to be corrected, and fast! The accuracy of those dates are EXTREMELY important! RIP David, Eddie and Melvin. A- |

Hi Arcadia, it's good to see you Hey Zebop!!! Question, I had always heard that the majority of the Motown hits were never certified anything, as Berry didn't allow industry accountants to check the books. What are they basing their sales figures on & did Berrys policy change about the accounting practice? |

Hey JF!! You know I didn't hear about Berry's "unorthodox" practices in this regard until a few years ago so I not sure what the numbers are based on. I'm fairly certain that neither "1990" or "House Party" went gold. In fact that idea makes me laugh, "House Party?" that didn't sell "nothing" (Message edited by zebop on August 06, 2004) (Message edited by zebop on August 06, 2004) |

Well, I don't think he wants to focus on the past Tempts just the present and the future. That's probably why it may seem boring. If you don't talk about the past Tempts then there's nothing really exciting to talk about IMO. That's where the real magic was. |

Thanks Zebop & Destruction. Destruction: When the policy change, did they do everything retroactively??? I know that many of The Supremes biggest 60s hits weren't certified anything after 1965. in fact NONE of Marvin Gaye's Motown hits were certified anything, not even his duets with Mary, Kim & Tammi. The Miracles either. Strangely, The Temptations have several Gold & Platinum entries. Does anyone know what's up with these descrepancies??? |

The record company has to ask the RIAA to do certification research for old releases. THere is a fee for each request. I don't know how this would work with the Motown records of the 60's. They didn't report sales data. I think their policy changed in the early/mid 70's. |

I'm going on memory here, but I believe Motown's policy on RIAA record counts changed in 1977. I remember reading it in Billboard Magazine. I don't know how accuarate the record counts are, as about two years ago "Dancing In The Streets" was declared a gold record, I'll bet dollars to donuts that "Dancing In The Streets" sold over a million copies in the 60's. |

I wonder how many copies My Girl sold. That is one popular song, still to this day. |
