The very first bass player of Flaming Ember, Mike Jackson, who was the bassist for the group from its inception in 1964 until 1966, passed away from a bout with cancer in Detroit. He was playing with Lee Phillips group as well as his long time "day gig" with United Airlines. I just spoke to bassist Jim Bugnel and needless to say the group members are distraught over the loss. |

Millie, did you know Mike? I was gonna come to detroit for the SD get together but I promised hall and oates that I would attend their Philly show as it was a biggie. I am gonna go down to Nashville probably sometime in September< God willing to continue the mission. I hope to come back to the d before it gets cccccold!! Regards to Dennis!! |

My brother was a friend of Mike's and used to sit in with the F.E. at club gigs in Detroit. Mike's group at the time played my brother's wedding in the 80's and we had a blowout jam ! Great guy, Great musician. Play on Mike !!! July 29, 2004 Age 57, died July 28, 2004 of Canton. Beloved husband of Anita. Dear father of Michelle (Ron) Bianchi, Christine Jackson and Theresa Jackson.
