Mel

I recall something about Freddie in the Robert West story. Perhaps the Hank Ballard bit.

Mel, the other side is "The Joy of Christmas."
It's a long time since I heard it but I reckon it's a bluesy number.

Freddy was a member of a couple of Detroit groups in the early '60s (see Robert West story). He also was a co-writer on a few Detroit songs. He had a few records on Diamond Jim (none of which is classic Northern Soul-to my memory). I have 3 or 4 of them. He also sang a duet (I forget with whom) on Diamond Jim.

Mel, if I can find some time I'll do a bit of digging and see what I can find. In the meantime here's a link to Marv Goldberg's article about the Royals - he was in the group in the fifties.
