BJL, thanks for these RARE pictures ! A friend of mine has a T.REX 45 from Iran, and I wonder : is there a country in this world that didn't release some records ? Maybe Mongolia ? But who can be sure ? :o) |

Glad you liked 'em, Phil (sorry about the weird scans, though). I used to buy tons of JB stuff and picked this up about 15 years ago - never seen another before or since. |

Sorry, I must be getting tired, typing too fast. I meant "because" not "becasue"! Could make it a new word, but would have to find a meaning for it! |

BJL, Just when I thought that I'd seen everything that James had to offer, you hit us with these jewels. I've never saw anything like that before & that must be the rarest of the rare. I notice that in Iran, they weren't fond of Kings, so they named the label "Royal" instead, huh Kinda makes me wonder what a Polydor label would have looked like. That would've been the ultimate. I can just imagine James picture on the label, with a turban on his head. That would've been priceless!!! These are great items, thanks for posting them! These are wonderful & many of us never knew of their existence. Kudos to you!!! |

Hey Re Re, You weren't tired, blame it on cabin fever. You're used to being out there, walking in all of that relative "fresh" Cali air. It's just a little withdrawal, that's all. Besides, seeing such rarities like that does make one a little tongue tied Let's look at that word again. Becasue (bek-a'-sue) Now, wasn't that part of a James Brown lyric??? Follow along with me: From Doin' It To Death: "Fred, Fred, Becausueeeee, HEYYYY!! GOOD GOD!!!! SOMMASOMMANOW......HEYYYYYY!!! Maceo.....Maceo.....becasueeee e.....Maceo.....you can blow.....Maceo. From Give It Up Or Turnit Loose LIVE Ver: Give the drummer some.....UHH.....UHH....Y'all wanna give the drummer some....GOOD GOD!!! UHH......UHHHH....becasue...UHH UHH....UHH UHH BECASUEEEEE...CLYDE!!! From every James Brown record ever: Fred......Fred....jump back, wanna kiss myself......HEYYYYYY!!! BECASUEEEEEEE.....better let everybody know you're in here,HEY HEY HEY HEY!!!!! UHHHHH!!!!! SOMMMANOMMMANOW.....GOOD GOD!!!! POPCORN.......HEYYYYYY....BECA SUEEEEEE.....TAKE ME TO THE BRIDGE AND DROP ME OFFF!!!! CAN I BECASUEEE LIKE I DID BEFORE??????CAN I BECASUE LIKE I DID BEFORE????? FREDDD???? FREDDDD???? MACEO.....UHHHH!!!! GOOD GODDD!!!! HEYYYYYY!!!! SO Re Re, as you can see, all that you were suffering from, was the subliminal effect of years of listening to James Brown lyrics!!! We all suffers from it....HEYYYYYYY!!!! BECASUEEEEE indeed (Message edited by juicefree20 on July 29, 2004) |

Hey Juice - Glad you liked the pic. I love that shot of the man who is (in my opinion) still exceptionally underrated. When that 45 came out, Iran was ruled by their own "King" - the Shah - until his overthrow in the 1979 revolution. An Iranian friend tells me that Regal was just an Iranian label and there's no connection to the US King label. Anyway, as you pointed out, "Greedy Man" was on Polydor. |

Great sleeves, Wonder B - all French, I guess? They issued some cool ones, that's for sure. Now, this isn't a 45 (it's a 78rpm record, young uns), but you don't see these every day. In March 1956 who'd have guessed the length and influence of JB's career?
