This is indeed a step forward. Wish I could be there!
When I spoke to JJ Barnes the other week he mentioned the lack of radio airplay in Detroit for the old Golden World/D Town etc etc material.
I could pull the rest of my hair out!

Actually WHFR (?) 88.1 is known to play a few northern soul classics on their week nights midnite to 6am program. I heard some Darrell Banks and JJ Barnes. The only problem is, the station is out of Highland Park and is hard to get where I live downtown, so sometimes my girl and I drive around HP listening. We then proceed to get tired and decide to kick it at home with our collection.
Eric, the night is pretty set for now on DJ's and Detroit records for weeks, but you should definitely check it out, the first one went off with a BANG!!! Hope to see you there! |
