I have heard an extended version "Funky Drummer." This take is not on the regular 45 and features more of those great drum breaks. How much stuff like this is out there. Does anyone know? |

Wonder B, Sideburns. Wonder B, I wouldn't worry about it cause it's just an extended version with like Pts. 1 thru 10-12, only with more funky drummer beats, with a tad taste of a bit of slight change on the bridge, slightly. The fellow from Japan is lucky though I hold no envy for the guy. Sideburn and yourself may think it's one of a kind, it's not. The recording is is a long playing acetate. Play time could be 25 minutes long. I could be wrong but I don't think so. Anyway, some DJ's here and some private collectors might have it. I heard this recording on a couple of radio stations as far back in the late 70's, early 80's. I heard a few spins. Why I know that this is a fact is, I think it was a extended long playing promo for radio DJ's only. It's like what Prince use to do for unreleased or non lp B-sides, something that he did for his Black Album for a private listening party, and wound up getting bootleg. I'm glad Wonder B is discovering JB's production recordings, because I always thought the same way about it. Wonder was right, in regards to the live triple lp, with limit-ed pressed copies. After awhile it was reduced to a double lp, because that's only what everybody knew it as. Other's don't know it. No, I never owned it but I heard it and I pretty much recall what I had in my (stolen) record collection from the 70's, from that era in time. Wonber B keep up the good work, keep diggin' out these unknown lost records. If you post, I know somebody'll back your resreach & facts. Keep on Funkin' Don |

Thanks for the memories Don... It's always great to have first hand insightful comments... I lived that ear in the 70's but was too far away to get a listen to the rarest stuff which drowned into oblivion only to resurface in this third millenium! LOL Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go! |

Before you go Wonder B, I wanted to say that how this extended acetate version got out here, may not be a mystery. However, maybe a DJ from somwhere wanted to hock it for money is why it's brought. I wonder if it's a booleg or not? Don |

Maybe Alan Leeds the same guy that was Prince's Tour Manager and helped run Prince's Paisley Park label? Don |
