Okay all of you soulfuldetroit experts, I'm not familiar with these groups, please fill in the blanks for me. The Counts ~ I know their from Detroit and had a song titled "Why Not Start All Over Again". Was this their only song? The Ambers~ I only know they were a New Jersey group. What song or songs did they make? The Tempermentals ~ I know they were a group in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. What song or songs did they make? Maybe I haven't heard anything about them because their group name fit their personalities. The Delroys ~ I know that Cliff Noble was a member of this group. They were a local Philly group. The Equations ~ I have no information about this group. The Force MD's ~ I'm not sure, they may have been a group from Philly, and a friend of mine name Brian Evans may have sung with them. |

THE COUNTS ALSO HAD A RECORD CALLED "JAN JAN". THEY WERE MY BAND BACK IN THE SIXTIES, WE WERE CALLED "SPYDER TURNER AND THE FABULOUS COUNTS" WHEN I SIGNED WITH MGM RECORDS THEIR MAMAGER ADVISED THEM NOT TO SIGN AND I BECAME A SINGLE ARTIST. THEY ARE ALSO PLAYING ON MY HIT "STAND BY ME". THERE WILL BE MORE INFO ON THEM IN MY NEW BIO SOON TO BE ON MY WEBSITE. WWW.SPYDERTURNER.COM |

Spyder, Thank you for the information! I knew that my soulfuldetroit buds would give me the 411 on my questions. Don, Thanks for the information on The Force MD's, you are correct they were a group from Staten Island, New York. I mixed them up with a group from Philly. I was thinking of the group called ~ The Soul DeValents also know as Force Of Nature, they were a Philly group. Soulfuldetroit is so educational. |

Vonnie...I remember The Fabulous Counts from the early 70s in and around Detroit. They were VERY popular locally around that time. They had several other hits besides "Why Not Start All Over Again", which was a solid jam. The other cuts that I remember were "Show Me The Way" (that may or may not be the exact title) and "Rhythm Changes". If I'm not mistaken, they recorded on Westbound. |

HEY GARY, YOU'RE RIGHT, I FORGOT THOSE OTHER SONGS. NOW YOU KNOW FOR SURE THAT I HAVE A BAD CASE OF C.R.S. SOMETIMES MY MEMORY HAS TO BE JOGGED, BUT THEY WERE A DYNOMITE GROUP. LEROY IS STILL PLAYING IN CANADA AND DEMO IS AN ACTOR AND LIVES IN MONTREAL. I SAW MOSE IN ATLANTA PLAYING IN A CLUB A FEW YEARS AGO AND I WENT TO A T.V. SHOW HE WAS TAPING. HIS BAND THEN WAS VERY GOOD. |

Thank You Vonnie I appreciate it. The Force MD's had their biggest hit with "Tender Love" written & produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis formerly with Morris Day & The Time. "I Couldn't Care Less" written by Full Force, who scored hit after hit with Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam. Don |

What's up Spyder! I never knew the Counts were your band back in the day. I guess it's true that we learn something new every day. You're right, those cats were dynamite, I'm glad to hear they are doing well these days. See you at the Dream Cruise. |

Also are these the same band of guys that appeared in Animal House or National Lampoon? Didn't George "Dr. Funkenstein" Clinton produced a LP/CD on The Counts? 'CUZ' |

I don't think the Yes and Shrine groups are related to the Detroit act (Fabulous Counts) that recorded for Moira, Westbound and GMC. UK Ace re-issued their Westbound LP, "It's What's Up Front That Counts", a while back. It should still be available on CD from them. Best, Mark |

No problem, Mel. Having not heard either of the rare Counts groups (Yes or Shrine--one of the few Shrines I've yet to hear), are these any good? Best, Mark |

Did someone say The(Fabulous)Counts? If I wasn't so tired I would ramble on for days. I get to work with Leroy Emmanuel at least once a week and keep tabs on the rest. If you want to hear some really solid true music www.lmtconnection.com is Leroy's current band. The new CD Universal Soul is a lesson that all classic artists should take.Just let the music happen without trying to re-create or update your sound. The Counts also recorded on Aware records and for today's trivia, guess what artist had his Funky start doing the cover art of The Counts- "Love Signs" on Aware? |

Some of the Counts eventually backed Bohannon on some of his latter material. |
