WENT TO THE MOTOR CITY CASINO LAST NIGHT TO SEE THE REFLECTIONS, MAN THOSE GUYS ARE GREAT! WE ENJOYED EVERY SONG THEY SANG. THEN WHEN THEY DID JACKIE WILSONS "DOGGIN ME AROUND", THEY BLEW ME AWAY. JACKIE WAS MY IDOL, AND WHEN ANYONE TRIES TO SING ONE OF HIS NUMBERS I'M USEUALLY DISAPPOINTED, BUT MAN O MAN THEY DID THE HELL OUT OF IT, I FOUND MYSELF HOLLIN LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, ONLY LOUDER. SISDETROIT, GEE, JIM CHEERS, AND MY BROTHER ANDRE WERE ALL WITH ME AND WE ALL REALLY ENJOYED THE SHOW. THEY STILL GOT THE PIPES.
IT WAS A GREAT NIGHT CAUSE WHEN WE LEFT THERE, WE WENT TO HART PLAZA AND SAW THE MISTY LOVE SHOW, HAD A GOOD TIME THERE, EXCEPT IT GOT COLD DOWN BY THE RIVER, THEN TO TOP OFF THE NIGHT, WE WENT OVER TO THE GREEKTOWN CASINO TO SEE SERIEUX, WHAT A SHOW!( I MENTIONED THEM ON THE GREAT BASS SINGERS THREAD ). BUT TO THE REFLECTIONS, MY HAT'S OFF TO YOU GENTS,,,,,,,,,,,,SPYDER

Spyder - You are absolutely right about those guys' performance. Their performance on the Jackie Wilson's tune was amazing. Their voices were out of sight.

From there I went to see the Floaters: Larry, Ralph, Robert, with Esther Todd (Dulla) joining them. (Esther Todd, for a time, sang background vocals for DRuffin as one of the Ruffettes.)

Tony and the guys have great vocal chops ...just to hear guys who come from the golden age of vocal harmony, still singing that way and very well, is all too rare ...

Hi Kev Lo,
Not the same group at all.
The 70's Reflections were Capitol recording artists. They did the outstanding LP "Love On Delivery" (1975).
It includes the song you mention 'Three Steps from True Love' & a couple of other KILLERS!!; 'She's My Summer Breeze' & 'Day After Day (Night After Night).
They were spotted by Melba Moore's arranger for use as backing singers for a club tour that she was doing in '71 and the rest is history.
There names were:
HERMAN EDWARDS
JOSH PRIDGEN
EDMUND 'BUTCH' SIMMONS
JOHN SIMMONS

J.R. Bailey co-produced/co-wrote some of the tracks (3 Steps & She's My Summer Breeze to name a couple)... & you know that it was QUALITY 70's product when Larkin Arnold was executive producer on the album;o))

Jester.

Hi, soulful brothers!

Hi, Kev-lo and Jester
Thanks to you i have solutioned my doubt about what was the original version of "Three Steps From True Love", because I have the one by The Reflections and another by Billy Davis Jr. solo (without Marilyn McCoo) on ABC records, 1976. Both are very goods and very deep-soul!

Peace!

Spyder,
You didn't see them perform (Just Like) Romeo and Juliet at the Live with Levi Tribute?

I remember seeing them there, and being blown away by the song. Everyone in my party, Sam, Sam's mom Helen, Diane and Chris were just rockin' away and that was the first time I'd ever heard that song (Don't tell them, OK?).

Can anyone tell me if John Dean of The Reflections was The J. Dean who wrote and produced together with William Weatherspoon at Motown?

Robb
J Dean is James Dean and is not John Dean of the Reflections.

Thanks, David. Now that I think of it, I remember seeing "James" Dean printed on some labels.

Good evening Mr. Turner
I seem to remember The Reflections single of "Just Like Rameo and Juilet" by The Reflections and The Fantastic 4 version. I wanted to know which came out first? I heard a rummor they we're getting back together, I heard a report I don't know how true the rummor is.

Don, the FF didn't record "Just Like .." - or
at least it's never been issued. The Reflections
did the song first in 1964
