Hey Hey Hey!!!

Re Re, I used to love Southern Sunset. It was the flip of Dazz & that was one mellow jam!!! I liked their ballad That's What It's All About from the Good High LP as well.

What about Indian Summer Love by Con Funk Shun? Sunshower by Dr Buzzard was simply great. Though their 2nd Lp: Sr Buzzards Savannah Band Meets King Pnett was a huge disappointment, that 1st LP was great. I loved Skyy, especially their ballads When You Touch Me, Let's Touch & Real Love. Then of course there was High, Easy, Call Me, Let's Celebrate, Let Love Shine, Show Me The Way To Go & my favorite, Here's To You!

As for Mandrill, I loved Too Late, Fencewalk, Get It All & one of the funkiest jams ever, Can You Get It (Suzie Ceasar)!

How about Parliament & Get Off Your A** & Jam?

Juice, see now that's what I'm talking about!!:-):-)
I LOVE that song, and yes, it was the flip side of DAZZ, my mother had the 45-LOL!!!! Ditto on Confunkshun, what about "Ill Set You Out, Ok? You can't forget Dr. Buzzard's- "Ill Play The Fool For You & Cher Che Le Femme? Also, they were a group, but Side Effect was BAD!!! I liked
Gorgy Porgy, The Lord's Prayer,Goin' Bananas(pre Miki Howard) & The Loneliest Man In Town. Where is August these days? Also his spin off band The L.A. Boppers- Is This The Best. Whew, I'm on a roll, stop ME!!!:-):-):-)

Yes, Destruction! A lot of groups that I haven't heard in a long time, that were not as popular, I sometimes forget what they sang. Then when I hear it, it's like "Oh Yeah, I remember them!"

All of the above. I saw someone mention K.C. and the Sunshine Band. I never cared much for their music because I always thought it was too AM radio-Top 40-pop oriented. But when I saw them perform live, they made a believer out of me. They put on one hell of a show.

Hey NY Dell,

I think that most of the folks were considering bands who recorded & toured for self. As the Funks notoriety was in the studio, I think that we were coming from the performers who recorded under their own aegis, as opposed to those who were primarily Studio house bands.

Yeah you're right Handsome both bands were from Chicago, I have the Skip to My Lou release it was on the B side of The Temptations extended mix(promo copy) of "Surface Thrills".......

Finis and the group were mainstays on the southside back in the Day, High Chapparall, Guys and Gals and even Keymans Club on the Westside.
