July was a particularly good month to visit the city due to the amount of entertainment available.

We saw
Little Jimmy Scott
Ali Woodson
Little Richard

We missed
Carl Carlton
Howard Hewitt
Vanessa Bell Armstrong
Enchantment
Confunkshun
Gino Washington

Only in Detroit!

Now in his seventy second year, Little Richard was fantastic. He is a real character and still sings really well.

Song of the evening for me was the soul ballad "Directly from my heart".

Finally acapella is alive and well in Detroit too.

Thanks especially to Spyder for singing "Calling girls" and "Get myself together".

Also to Frances for singing "Fight fire with fire".

And to Tonya for sending us off with powerful renditions of Patti Drew numbers. Tonya is one of Detroit's great characters and we're gonna miss her.

And Sis!

Thank you DMeikle. I had a great time. Especially in Greektown. um um um!!!!!!

(((HELLO HARRY)))

Others you met were:
Gerald Tate and John Sadler of "Friends"
Charles Davis - Contours
Paul Whitaker (sp) - Video man
Solomon - Paul's assistant.

Tonya reminded me that as we were leaving IHOP, at my insistance she did renditions of:

Tracy Chapman and Stevie Wonder. We turned the walkway of IHOP into a mini stage. :o)

It's always good to have fun and to be happy.
God bless you.

Dear Harry & David:

It was all my pleasure!

I am glad we met and had a good time.

Harry, post more often!!!

David till we do it again, hopefully it will be on your side of the pond.

To both of you I promise many many little round disk's. wink wink!!

To both of you I lift me glass of Balvenie 12 year and say...

Here's tae you, as good as you are,
And here's tae me as bad as I am;
And as bad as I am, and good as you are,
I'm as good as you are,as bad as I am.

And on me second drink I say... hey I'm Irish!

May the hinges of friendship never rust,
or the wings of luve lose a feather.

Cheers Mates!!

Hey Ralphie!!!

I'll be in touch with you. I really wish that I could have gotten that Fox feed in New York. All in all, it sounds like a great time was had by all & I'm proud to belong to such a forum. Damn, we've just added a few more celebrities. I now await Soulie & Davids' biographies. I guess that I can get them autographed, what'cha think Ralphie :-)

Great work by all involved!!!

David and Harry are amazing. They come here and teach me [and all of us] about our great musical history. Each time, they come here on a mission and manage to pack so much in so little time, as described above. Great guys, real Detroiters! Thanks so much.

I wish there was video of the stories they have told me. Can't you just see some some aging rent-a-cop having a couple of thick accented Scots charming him with tales he forgot form decades gone by when, during his fifteen minutes of fame, he was the toast of a town blessed by his music.
