I just got home from seeing Miss Patti in Albany, NY. It's my first Patti show in four years, which is a long stretch for me. There was a time I wouldn't go six months without seeing her show. She's still got it, and even better than before. As a woman close to Patti's age myself, I don't know how she does it, but she does. And there's a whole new legion of young fans out there, so they'll keep her young! You go, Patti! |

Ive said it once and I will say it again-Miss Patti gives the BEST show period. Some "critics" just dont get her-they are ignorant. |

Dinelle -- nothing special happened per se -- it's just that Patti happened. No matter what, she gives it her all and then some. Her voice is as good as it ever was, her energy level is unbelievable (although she does now have 2 guys who lift her up from the floor after her legendary roll). I look back at the "good ol' days" with her band from the 80s and the Sweeties as some of the best times of my life, but things change. I will always miss that, but Patti is still Patti. |

Hi Linda! What is Patti's playlist nowadays? Is she performing a lot of her new material from the album "Timeless Journey"? I recently saw a promo commercial for "Timeless Journey" on BET and I was appaled at how cheap it looked! Bad lighting, bad makeup for Patti, cheap set and it looked as if it had been shot with somebody's camcorder! Patti's new label Def Jam should be ashamed of themselves! Do they have any idea that Patti is one of the greatest and most loved vocalists of all-time? Non-talented clowns like Ashanti and Lumidee have gotten better promotion from Def Jam tha what Patti's got. It's sickening. |

Patti did a lot of her older songs -- Music is My Way of Life, Joy To Have Your Love, If Only You Knew, On My Own, Somebody Loves You, You Are My Friend (among many others). She also did 3 songs from the new CD, and they went over well with the crowd. |

Wow Linda. I had no idea that Patti was still performing all of those excellent early solo singles. 'Joy To Have Your Love' (one of my favorites) and 'Music Is My Way Of Life'! That's so cool. Is she still doing 'Isn't It A Shame' and 'When You Love Somebody' as well? I'd love to see that! I recently saw Patti on The Ellen Show performing her single 'New Day'. She looked great and sounded fantastic but I didn't really care for the band. They just weren't tight and up to her standards. I hope that this isn't the same group that she's on the road with now. |

Rodman - I'm not sure if it's the same band from Ellen. The band was good Sunday, the singers were not up to par (IMO). But Patti was awesome, so I concentrated on her vocals and nothing else. She did do "Isn't it a Shame." I love her old stuff. The new CD is a'ight, but I will always like her old stuff. This show was a good combination. (Message edited by linda di fsg on July 20, 2004) |

Oooh, she did Isn't It a Shame! That's one of my favorite Patti (with LaBelle) songs. I love Patti LaBelle. She always puts on a good show. I've seen her about five times. She's coming to DC soon so hopefully I'll get to see her again. |

Thanks Linda. You're like me. I didn't care for the band on The Ellen Show but if you concentrate on Patti's voice you can't go wrong! LOL. She's amazing. That's too bad about her current lackluster background singers. Especially since you've seen her performing with The Sweeties no less! Good background singers are so hard to come by nowadays. Everybody wants to be A STAR and the lead singer instead of creating good harmonies. |
