Last night at nine pm, the Bravo channel broadcast the Songwriter's Hall of Fame awards show.
For me , it was what this buisness is all about and that is recognition from your peers for your contribution to writing and composing great music for all generations to appreciate.

I especialy enjoyed the super talented singer/ guitarist Jonny Lang singing Living for the cityand Brian Mc Knight singing Sara Smile.
My homies Hall and Oates were honored and won this very prestigious award.

This show was attended by some of the biggest names in the world of songwriting, and deservedly so.

Mr. Eli, I read that Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong were honored as well. Since I dont have Bravo I wasnt' able to see the show. Hopefuly PBS or someone will pick it up, sadly shows like this one often dont make it to DVD until 3-4 years down the road. Great news though.....Hall & Oates are some of my favorites along with the aforementioned.....and of course yours truly....Peace and hairgrease

Sounds good Bobby. Did Holland/Dozier/Holland appear? They just did an appearance in London and received the 'Special International Award' at the 49th Ivor Novello Awards. There was a special evening of their music at a London Club and a performance by Lulu singing some of their hit compositions. Sadly I was not invited, even though I am a paying member of The British Academy of Song Composers. To coin a phrase I read recently by a famous composer from Detroit - 'Don't listen when people say you can't do this thing, or you're just wasting your time. Be faithful to the music and the music will be faithful to you'. I would love to have seen them.
