Okeh
been sifting through some sounds
were there any other releases on this label
apart from

De-Val
first issue
no.6751 by Jackie Milton

no.6752
by Madeline and the Monticellos
who was madeline?
the same Monticellos that cut a version to The Spyders 45 on Red Cap of 'dont hold back'
(Mr Turner of course)

no.6753
by ex lead on The Dreams group
Keni Lewis
and 'they call me jesse james' fame

no.6754
was a detroit cut produced by George McGregor
and sung by
Almera Latimer

and as far as I know the last release was by
Jackie Milton (so talented)
on no.6755
with a cut by
Donnie Elbert/Bert Keyes.

any info appreciated
cheers

I interviewed Gene a few years ago in Vegas.

I wrote a long article about his fascinating career (based out of Philly, Detroit, LA, Cleveland, etc.).

I will check my notes in case I have any interesting info on this label.

BTW, probably already known to everyone here, but the Dreams who worked with Keni Lewis are the same group who sang with Frankie Karl on the Washington based DC label 45 "Don't Be Afraid" (produced of course by Gene Dozier) -- this 45 was recently refered to on another SD thread.

Didn't Gene Dozier produce the wonderful "Think It Over Baby" by the Groovettes?

Best,

Mark

Mark Speck: I have it as RENESS 109 - AIN'T A THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT (2:35) / THINK IT OVER BABY (2:40) by The Groovettes and the Bob Reed Orquestra. Boreedo Music-Music (BMI). Both tracks written by Billy Jackson. Produced by B. Reed and U. Dozier.

FYI..
Billy Jackson is Ugene's real name, not to be confused with the Tymes producer, Billy Jackson.
