Hi, Fayette (Pickney) :-)!! You knows how touch the most sensible chord of the SDFer's. I have had, sadly, many love disappointments in my teens and my twenties. At these occasions, I have heard and have feel identificate with "When A Man Loves A Woman" (with the lyrics and, most important, with the FEEL,; a man CAN REALLY CRY, i'm not ashamed to admit it). The most love affair disapointement i ever had, I heard "If You Leave Me Now" (Chicago), "Don't Leave Me This Way" (the original Blue Notes version), and some others. More recently, I have had serious problems of unemployment and, subsequently, economical problems, and everytime I heard the Poet Curtis singing "Homeless" i practically cry because the unjust situation of those millions of persons and for the mellow feel that Curtis injected in this great poem. It's not a novelty, soul music tolds universal feelings and situations in the most emotive idiom. Peace, Soul Food, and thanks, Fayette for starting this interesting and emotive trhead. |

This song don't have lyrics, is MFSB's "Thank You Miss Scott" but, particulary, the sweet and mellow flute solo by Jack Faith in the last part, remind me in your sympathy and your, always, sweet and nice words. "Thank You, Miss Scott" (and no ofense you or Mr. Scott, this is a friendship comment :-) :-)) |

Hi again, Soul Sister! I can't concieve a soulful sister with a hard side. BTW, if you says it, perhaps is true (?) (big smile, friend!) Hope you have not only a happy weekend, but everyday a happy day. This weekend my wife don't let me come to descend canyons with my friends. I take my copy of Billy Paul's "Let'em In" and I'll heard one time and another "I Think I Stay In Home Today" , :-( :-( :-( (or, perhaps, better "I Don't Love You Anymore", By Teddy? :-) Peace & Soul Food |

Bobby Womack's "Daylight" ...when I was "out there". Womack's "I Wish He Didn't Trust Me So Much" ConFunkShun's "Straight From The Heart"...during a great relationship Alexander O'Neal & Cherrelle's "Never Knew Love Like This"..when my 1st child was born. Tony Toni Tone's "Holy Smokes & Gee Whiz !" ( a dead on Stylistics inspired tune) during another relationship. James Taylor's "Your Smiling Face" (I still love ya DeeDee...wherever u are...) Jim Croce's "I Got A Name" ("and I *still* carry it proudly like my Daddy did...") Eddie Kendricks' "He's A Friend" NYCC's "Express Yourself" and "Make Every Day Count" D.J. Rogers' "Love Brought Me Back" Smokey's "Virgin Man" |

Hello Fayette. This is certainly a thread for the amateur psychologists amongst us. One that I could instantly identify with was "Discover Me" by DAVID RUFFIN ( tremendous VAN McCOY production ). In fact I don't know why I used the past tense .. I can STILL identify with it .. but thats a whole other story!! Roger |

I think that it's obvious I could relate to "Wildflower" by New Birth. |
