I read an article in which Syreeta said she was grateful for Motown sticking with her for so many years, even tho she also was desirous of more success. |

Motown should have stuck by Syreeta Wright. She was a beautiful, talented woman who helped or rescued them on many occasions. She "sweetened" and finished several Motown artists tracks, including Martha Reeeves and primarily Diana Ross. It is rumored that there are several Diana Ross hits that Syreeta either finished or overdubbed (due to the similarity in their voices). I think this may have sealed her fate at Motown. There are many people who still think that "With You I'm Born Again" is a Diana Ross/Billy Preston duet and do not realize that it is Syreeta singing on the song. The Diana Ross similarity may have also been the "real" reason she did not become lead singer of the Supremes after Diana left. The group would have sounded too much like the old Supremes (and would have probably given La Ross a fit). In any event, we got the wonderful Jean Terrell. However, I have always wondered what would have happened with a Syreeta, Cindy, Mary line-up. |
