On July 7, 1979; Chic hit the #1 Billboard Pop and R&B charts respectively with the million-selling smash "Good Times" (Atlantic single-3584) from their album "Risque" on Atlantic Records. It was #1 pop for 1 week and #1 R&B for 6 weeks for a total run of 14 weeks. Although it was second to the monster smash "LeFreak" (Atlantic #3519) which was at the top of charts for 6 weeks pop and 5 weeks R&B in 1978, this is still the essential track for all the discoteques and block parties to make things happen on the dance floor for over a quarter of a century now. Don't ya agree, folks? |

BigDaddy: I still have my 45 of "Good Times" with the picture sleeve (taken from the album cover of "Risque"). I bought the single the moment I heard it on the radio and it rose to #1 quicker than the Road Runner! The Atlantic label was silver and it was a replication of the company's 78 labels. And yes, I roller-skated to that sucker until my Dad said, "Enough! Can't you play anything else!!" (well, uh.....) Kevin Goins - KevGo |
