Mel, I remember this song. It is a great instrumental. probably not only Jack Ashford and Johnny Griffith from the Funk Brothers on the session. The vocal version of this song was, as you probably know, released on Spectrum 114 by Billy Sha-Rae. Great Detroit soul Lars |

Do It by Billy Sha-Rae was also on the Hour-Glass label(out of New York) at the same time, I got the record when it was playing on the radio and that was on Hour Glass. the session was cut at Sound Patterns located at that time in Farmington,Mi with Danny Dallas as engineer. the Johnny Griffith version is just an overdub of the Billy Sha-Rae band track with Griffith playing electric piano. |

Ron, I've a feeling that HourGlass was owned by the same guy who owned Spectrum - a fifties NY bandleader named John Bennings. Davie |

Hi! This is the Hour-Glass issue. The B-side is the Bobby Womack composition I Found The One. The B-side of the Spectrum release is the Chandler-Ashford song Crying Clown. Lars |
