Hi this is Kev-Lo you for the last few weeks I've talked about some real classic rare soul.I always felt that rare soul did'nt get the props that the most popular soul music got. THE CANDI-BARS came out with a 1968 jam called You're The One THE FOUR MINTS did a few jams called You'er My Desire, Where Did I Go THE VISITORS I Believe came out of Chicago did a 1968 jam called Until You Came Alone and they also did a jam called I'm Gonna Stay THE NEW YORKERS had a nice soulful sound and in the mid 60's they had two jams called There's Gonna Be A Wedding and You Should Have Told Me THE CHANCELLORS made a jam called Sad Avenue THE UNITED FOUR from Chester Pennsylvania who were featured on Harthon Records They had two jams called Look At Her Now and Go On Do anybody on this forum have some information about any of these rare soul groups I just Mentioned |

Candi bars was a 70's thing other side called 'I believe in you' Four mints recorded on cap soul records with 'do you really love me-(Im gonna) keep on loving you I know of 4 or 5 Visitors tracks on Bashie/TRC/Dakar records. The New Yorkers have cut a few rare 45s on the Tac ful and Radio city labels. The Chancellors on cap city and on El Cid records and Weldon A McDougals group the superb United Four and one outstanding track as well as others for me being 'she's putting you on' mel |

The Four Mints on Capsoul were out of the Columbus, Ohio area. A CD of the label's output was issued not too long ago, but is only available on-line. The Visitors were from the Milwaukee area, and from what I've heard, the great Mel Britt was one of the members. I've also heard that the TRC group is not connected in any way to the Bashie/Dakar act. The New Yorkers recorded for the Tac-Ful label, which was co-owned by none other than the great Rosey Grier and one of his L.A. Rams teammates. The label's name was derived from their positions (Rosey was a defensive TACkle, the other guy a FULlback). "Don't Wanna Be Your Fool" by the New Yorkers is highly recommended! Chancellors--out of Washington, D.C. I believe the flip is "All the Way From Heaven", another record that you need to hear! Best, Mark |
