On July 7, 1979; Maxine Nightingale, who had a huge hit in 1976 with the Gold single "Right Back Where We Started From" (United Artists single-752; highest peak: #2, Billboard Pop Chart 3/13/76-15 weeks total on chart), charted once again with the ballad "Lead Me On" (Windsong single-11530), peaking at #5 on the Billboard Pop Chart (#1 Adult Contemporary for 7 weeks) for a total of 14 weeks and eventually going Gold. Another great single from '79 was the classic "Reunited" (Polydor single-14547) peaking at #1 on 3/31/79 on BOTH the Billboard Pop and R&B Charts for 4 weeks-15 weeks total and selling over a million copies, making it Platinum. They also had another huge hit with the Gold "Shake Your Groove Thing" (Polydor single-14514), peaking at #5 on Pop for 13 weeks-both from their 1978 album "2 Hot!" produced by Freddie Perren. These two singles continues to stand the test of time 25 years later as they are still being played on not only on radio, but in various Old-Skool dances and adult nightclubs across the world. If there was a "500 Greatest Slow Jams Of All-Time" countdown that exists, I would put "Lead Me On" at around #10 and "Reunited" at #2, with the Major Harris ballad (and Bobby Eli/Vinnie Barrett composition) "Love Won't Let Me Wait" right at #1, but that's just my opinion, folks. What's your feedback? Holla.

Bigdaddy,

Would that be Bobby Blue Bland's "Lead Me On"?

Not unless Maxine did a version of Bobby's song, perhaps, if it is, I never heard of it.
