I have posted in the past about trying to get a group together in the Detroit area to play Motown tunes. I live in Michigan's upper peninsula. I was able to put a similar group together up here. We did our 2nd gig at our 4th of July festival. We played 19 songs that featured James Jamerson on bass. The most popular tunes were the duets with Marvin and Tammy. I would still love to come down there and gives this a try. People were really touched by the memories these songs evoked. I was approached my numerous people in the crowd that were very appreciative to hear these songs once again. It also helped me live part of my dream to participate in this music as more than a fan. |
