Hi. I was just on Amazon.com listening to some tracks of the cd "A Brand New Me". I believe most of the songs are a Gamble & Huff production. At any rate, one song called, "Let's Get Together Soon" is the same song later retitled & recorded by Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes feat. Sharon Paige, "I Hope That We Can be Together Soon" . Eli (or anyone)-How did this song get renamed? I know that this happens from time to time. Handsome |

I can't answer your question about the song by Harold Melvin & Bluenotes, but I do have three versions of ~A Brand New Me~ Jerry Butler (Co~wrote the song) Aretha and Dusty...and I love them all. |

Bobby Eli has said that he played on the album, but was uncredited. This was an LP that Gamble & Huff turned over to Roland Chambers & Ugene Dozier for production. I believe this was also the case for "Sweet, Sweet Soul" by The Sweet Inspirations. |

"Silly, Silly Fool" is a fave of mine since I first listened to it on the "The Philly Sound" box set. Roland Chambers did a superb arrangement on the track. |

I think I might be in a minority but I happen to think Dusty's Philly LP captured her heart and soul much more so than her Memphis LP. Joe, Silly Silly Fool, Star Of My Show, Never Love Again.......the only bad aspect of that Philly album was that it was far too short. |

Yes, for some crazy clerical reason, I was erroneously ommited from the credits on the Dusty album and several more early albums. The sessions were some of my favorite studio moments and Dusty was a gem and fun to be around. It was also the first time that Linda Creed had one of her songs recorded, albeit not on the lp but a b side of one of the singles. The song was called Free Girl, and I can still see Linda waltzing around the studio in disbelief!!! Also in attendance, was Norma Tanega, known for the sixties song walking my cat named dog, who was Dusty's "friend" capice???? Yes, Roland Chambers was very under rated as an arranger and producer. Ugene Dozier was a pseudonym. His real name was Billy Jackson, but not to be confused with the other producer of the same name, he changed his name to pay homage to the other Dozier, although not related. |

"Capice." I saw the British-produced bio on Dusty a few years ago. It was pretty upfront about her orientation. I found a true stereo mix of "I Only Want To Be With You" a few years ago. |

From what I understand, the title sang and sounded better as I hope the we ..... , and from a songwriter's perspective, I happen to agree, and so the song was re- copyrighted in the later title. FYI - 1 ..The words to the song "Joe" were writen by Allen Felder(RIP) on a bus and a subway, hence the lyric, on the way to his job at Westinghouse! FYI-2.. There is a wonderful version of the song by Jackie Moore on her Im on my way lp, which I produced. (Message edited by phillysoulman on July 12, 2004) |

Have you heard Nancy Wilson's version of "Joe"? Thom Bell did the arrangement on that one, too. It was from the Gamble-Huff produced "Now I'm A Woman" LP from 1970. |
