Today, I was fortunate enough to have a little chat with Janice McClain. As most of us here know, she's the daughter of Ms Alton McClain, of It Must Be Love fame with her group, Alton McClain & Destiny, back in 1979. I remember Janice from her Philly styled hit from 1979, Smack Dab In The Middle & her '80s classic, Passion & Pain". She is quite the polite lady & has such a charming voice. She's working on new material with our Bobby Eli & should be coming out with a Gospel release soon. It was very nice getting to speak with her & it was very nice for Bobby E to facilitate such a meeting. I appreciated getting to speak with her & I look forward to supporting her project. It's nice to have had Janice thanking me for my support. I wish her nothing but the best in all of her endeavors! And that's why I love Soulful Detroit! How many other places do you get to communicate with folks such as Janice, Bobby & Piano Man, musical director for The Stylistics??? Yes folks, sometimes we scream, sometimes we beef & sometimes, we're downright dysfunctional. Regardless, we are a family, warts & all & I love y'all man!!! Smilin' at ya, wishing all of you, my extended family...... Peace! Juice |

Juice I'm jealous! LOL. Janice is my girl! I love 'Smack Dab In The Middle' and there's another cut I like by her called 'Let's Spend The Night Making Love' from her mid-80's MCA album. What did you two talk about Juice? What musical direction is Eli taking her in with this new album? I can't wait to hear it! |

Yo Juice...I just got a heads up from Eli, and Janice is NOT Alton's daughter. |

Yeah Juice. Janice is the daughter of Sandy mc Clain and Colly Williams, two very early artists in my stable when I was barely fifteen!! Sandy and Colly met at my home and the rest is history, so I know Janice from a seed !! |

Hello all! Hey Wicked & Bobby! Thanks for the correction. Back in '79, certain N.Y. DJs stated the relationship between the two McClains'. If it were possible, I would go back & give them a hearty thank you for the misinformation. As one of them are now deceased, I can't thank him properly. Thank you for clearing up this 25 year-old misconception. Also, thank you to all of the knucklehead DJs who back in '79, misidentified the relationship between the McClains! I love you one & all |

Hey Bobby, I'm sure that has been the case. But it ticks me off a lot. I mean, you get info from what should be a "reliable" source. You walk around thinking this for 25 years then BOOM!!! My "reliable" info wasn't so reliable after all. To make matters worse, I can't even scream at any of the sources, as none of them work in New York anymore & I'm certainly not going to die so that I can yell at the other source, know what I mean? So, here I sit with egg on my face. Looks like I've been getting my info from the same guys that knew all about WMDs!! Oh well, at least I won't declare war |
