Hi, All!

Just a quick update on last Sunday's Rock & Soul Festival at the Rock & Roll Hall of fame. The concert was held on the Hall's Main Stage, and was headlined by Sarah Dash, Arlene Smith's Chantels, and Peaches & Herb. It was a spine-tingling show....

Sarah Dash opened the show with a rousing 3 song set. Stunning in an off-white sequined gown and matching sheer jacket, Sarah wowed the audience with the gospel-tinged "This Little Light of Mine." She then slowed it down, with a jazzy version of Ray Charles' "I Can't Stop Loving You," which elicited cheers from the crowd--with many people saying afterward that Sarah needs to record that song. Finally, she brought the house down with a rousing version of "Lady Marmalade." (Due to the lingering effects from injuries sustained in an accident a couple of years ago, Sarah is able to perform only on a limited basis, and must still use a cane. For her performance, Sarah sported a gorgeous silver cane on stage at the Rock Hall.)

Next up was Arlene Smith's Chantels--Arlene, Brenda Fair Alexander, Cheryl Carriere, and Musical Director Andrei Carriere. Their five song set not only elicited cheers from the audience, but also got folks up and dancing...slow dancing, that is!Opening with a stellar "Dancing In The Streets," Arlene--resplendent in bronze sequins--easily glided into "I Love You So," followed by "He's Gone. Then it was time for Arlene's tour-de-force solo, "Stormy," done in a slow, jazzy groove. And, of course, the set closed with the classic, "Maybe."

Peaches & Herb closed the show with a set including many of their hits, sung to a pre-recorded music track.

This was a great day at the Rock Hall. Arlene and Sarah were treated like the royalty they are.

Hi Tom;
Iam so sorry Jimmy & I missed this show, I wanted very much to go. Jimmy was to have an interview at home from local news station at 12:00 noon, I thought we'd still be able to make the show..but as fate would have it, the reporter was held-up and didn't arrive till almost 2:00pm. Then he brought a friend with him , so they stayed quite a while talking to Jimmy, by the time they left it was too late, the show was over by then.
Maybe Arlene will get a chance to stop by Jimmy's "gig" again at the 'Iridium' the first week in September. Please say "Hello" for us!!
