I'm surprised Billy Harner's "Sally Saying Something" wasn't a hit. It didn't make the Billboard top 100, but yet I know it so well! Was it a regional thing, and was it recorded in Philly or NYC? Where can I find it on CD? |

Garo I dont know if your in the states or the uk but the track was a big sound on the uk all-nighter scene many years ago. I have the 45 in front of me and theres no indication of where it was recorded. It was written by Sunshine/Poltergeist and produced by Sunday productions. Kama Sutra was distributed by M.G.M Records. regards Billy Harner I also have his 'What about the music' 45 on Kama Sutra records and a friend of mine has the mega-rare instrumental of it,does anyone have any info regards the instrumental being cut? regards finding the 'sally saying something' track on cd there are various cd compilations with it on. look for the northern soul compilations and goldmine as well as others will have it. if this fails garo let me know and I can download it to you. mel |

I was told it was recorded in Philly (as were most of his). But, as my long list of apologies indicated, I've been told lots of inaccurate info. I'm sure that Bobby (or Paulie) can answer that question. |

The record is getting a few plays on the northern scene again. Its not considered a rarity, but the price has gone up a little over the past couple of years from 5 to 10-15.Given the number of copies around it suggests some kind of hit,(or maybe anticipated hit}I wonder if Billy still has his barbers shop in Philadelphia? |

The song was a big hit on radio and at dances in Philly in the late 60's along with "Homicide Dresser" and "She's Just Like You." All 3 still get good airplay on WOGL-FM, Oldies '98. |

I live about 60 miles north of Philadelphia, and grew up on Philly radio stations and TV, so I guess that's partly why I know the record so well. I'm sure I heard it on Jerry Blavet's TV show also. Still listening to the Philly stations! |

Hi there Garo. As far as I'm aware the only C.D. "Sally Saying Something" has been issued on is the Deep Beats Compilation "Northern Soul 2", which I think is now out of print :- Heres a link with the full track listing :- http://www.jahsonic.com/DeepBe ats.html Roger |
