You know Sis, Rick will speak his mind. On MSNBC he told LaToya Jackson's x-husband, Jack Gordan (this guy (Gordan) gives me the creeps!) "NO wonder they don't let YOU into Neverland!" The comment got Rick some heavy duty, and, well earned applause in his defense of Michael Jackson. Yes Sis, it's Rick James' WORLD and we ONLY live in it! GO RICK! Arcadia |

I think that Rick James came across as a total jerk ,high as two kites plus his performance sucked and Teena needs to curb that horrific vibrato of hers. Can you just imagine Teena and Liza Minelli doing a duet?? Oy vey!! |

My thoughts also, Bobby. I turned the TV on the moment he called somebody a b****. Apparently somebody didn't know who he was? Get a grip, Rick. Not everybody is your superfreak. I missed Tina's performance. |

People are saying that Rick was actually referring to a skit that Dave Chappelle does about him. Maybe so. To me, it looked like he was pissed because a young woman backstage didn't recognize him. In any event, it was a tacky display. |

That's true Reese. Chappelle does has an ongoing skit featuring Eddie Murphy's brother Charlie talking about when they used to hand out. That line is a dig at Rick James' ego...and is almost as common as Wendy's "Where's The Beef" once was among Chappelle fans. |

What's up everyone??? Yes Wicked, Dave does that skit & it's hilarious. Rick even participated in one of those skits, telling the story like a "Behind The music" episode. Man, I missed the show, I heard that it was good & that Mo'nique was great. Hey, by the way...is it possible that that whole thing with Rick was staged??? The reference Rick James made is from a skit that Dave Chapelle did on his show. I mostly enjoyed the show even though it was heavily weighted with Hip-Hop and Rap, but that's is the musick(sic)scene of today. Juice, Monique was a very good host. She opened up the show in a very short mini dress dancing to the Beyonce song "Crazy In Love". She did all the gyrating dance moves like Beyonce and her backup dancers were big beautiful babes like herself. Monique rocked that house! Beyonce gave her props for her dancing. The best moment for me was the Isley Brothers Lifetime Achievement Award. It was good to see Rudolph, Ron and Ernie. I learned something I did not know, the Isley's have had really great artists as their musicians. I did not know that Elton John was their keyboard player and that Jimmy Hendrix was their guitar player. I was also suprised to learn that the girl who plays the oldest daughter(Vanessa) on the Bernie Mack Show is the daughter of Ron Isley and Angela Winbush. Her name is Camile Winbush. Monique, made me laugh so hard. She was speaking and The Ying Yang Twins interrupted her speech, she then told the audience, "they are the reason that you should make sure you take your birth control pills every day". I grade the show a c+. (Message edited by Vonnie on July 01, 2004) |

Vonnie, are you sure about that young lady belonging to Ron & Angelea. She looks nothing like either of them...and yes, Rick James statement was a take off of the Chapelle skit which is HILLARIOUS!!! |

"I'm Rick James Bytch!" comes from a skit on The Dave Chapelle show. It's actually one of the funniest skits I've seen on the show. LOL. However, I was shocked when I heard Rick James say it on the BET Awards but it was hilarious. |

Rick's comment didn't bother me, though I wouldn't conduct myself that way. "Hey that's just his way". What's Teena got to do wit it? Tina gets mad props. There are a many white singers (or non-white passing off as being whyte thinking their a brother or a sister) as there are black singers, with whom music I don't care much for. It would be nice if Angela Winbush we're asked to collaborate, on the next or future Isley Bros project. |

glencro and sea, You are both correct the girl on the Bernie Mack show is not the daughter of Ron Isley and Angela Winbush. Sorry for the incorrect 411. |

Re: Elton backing the Isely's. Before EJ's ascencion to fame, he played in a band called Bluesology, with Long John Baldry. They backed a load of the American R&B acts of the day, including the Vibrations. The first time that I went to the UK with the Vibrations, Bluesology were the backing band, and the future AWB, were the backing band for the German tour! I remember hearing them trying to repeat the word "mot*******er" with their heavy brogue and they would practice saying it all the time!!! |
