I was reading about the Ms Boyd---article raved about her talent and some of her later Spring and Verve releases. Unfairly she has often been relegated to one hit wonder status. I loved Keep Your Hands Off,What I Gotta Do, and Swinging on a Star; she had a strong voice. Anyone heard her Verve and Spring stuff, as well as her 90s album I think she made? |

Yes I have all of those and they're a different Eva Boyd but instantly recognisable. She moved on to become a more soulful Eva, who deserves more recognition than she got. She's not just the Locomotion gal. The 90s songs are more Christian in content and I have to admit that I only listened to them a couple or three times. Her voice is still strong but it just ain't my cup of tea. |

Eva was great in person also.I saw her and my brother Randy introduced me to her at a telvision event at the old Wolfman Jacks club in Orlando 1989.Eva was great she sounded just like her old records. She seemed to be a pretty cool, fun person to hang with.I know she had a record on Verve that got R & B airplay here in the late 60's.I loved all her Dimension recordings and the B sides were good also. |

Thats interesting per Little Eva being active in 1989. It seems to contradict the People magagzine 1991 article saying she had "retired." |

She also made a pretty good record on one of the Bell labels. I think it was "Run To Him/"Run To Her", but not sure. I won't see my 45s until November. Her Verve stuff was pretty good. She also recorded with Idalia as "The Boyd Sisters". |

I remember meeting Little Eva in the bathroom of the Bandstand Show when it was in Philly in 1964. She had on a soft pink prom dress (with crinoline), a tiara in her hair and high heeled pointy toed shoes which she complained about. She said and I'm paraphasing, "Chile, my feet are killing me!" We laughed and she hobbled out the bathroom. |

Nosey, thats cool. Eva was real down home> Her & my brother Randy sat at the bar and sang all the words to "Makin With the Magilla"...she remembered all the words and sang it just like the record. |

Hi Tony! Yeah, I was kinda in awe of it all cause of the fact that my best buddy and I actually made it in since Bandstand was quite racist at the time and for Little Eva to speak to us was a thrill! She had a warm spot in my heart and I was quite sad when I learned of her passing. The dirty looks we got from the staff and even Dick Clark was voided out by Little Eva's "realness". I know, I know, he's an icon and has probably changed through the years but in 1964 he was not nice to us little colored girls. |

Hi Nosey, That's a great story on Eva and a sad story to hear on the Amer. Bndstand. staff. I also danced on the show, but in the late '70s in Calif. Dick Clark was always very nice and I saw him again a few yrs. ago and he claimed to remember me. Eva was a real sweetheart! |
