Hey Bobby E Looking at the Futures cd, one track from the Greetings album was written partly by CARL Gamble. is this a misprint or a relative of Kenny's I have never heard of before?? |

Carl Gamble, I believe is Kenny's brother. He also co-wrote Billy Paul's "We All Got A Mission." |

I also knows the existence of another Gamble Philly related, Artis Gamble, who plays synthesizer (jointly with Dexter Wansel) in the untitled Casablanca LP by People's Choice (1980). Also in some credits appears "D. Gamble" as songwriter (perhaps is Kenny's ex-wife, Dee Dee, ??) Peace |

When I was a teenager I got my mum to knit me a pullover (sweater) with "Gamble & Huff" incorporated on front. I'd forgotten all about it until now! |

No, Wonder B - I'm sad to say I don't. But I also had a sweater with "Okeh" emblazoned on the front, and I do remember seeing a pic of me wearing that one. I was in Spain at the time. I'm sure the photo is in England with a lot of my stuff, but I'm now in Taiwan. The Okeh logo was cut out of felt and stiched on the front - it looked pretty snazzy, even though I say so myself! Both of those sweaters were created around 1971-2. |

I know my comment may not be nor sound like much. I use to always wait for any Gamble singles and lp's to be released, along with Bell (Thom Bell's label) back in the day, and other artist when Philly came on strong big time on the charts at their earlier mid to late 60's peak. |

Don, Bell records was not Thom Bell's label. It was a corporation originally started by Al Massler, Arthur Yale and Larry Utal. It was part of Amy-Mala-Bell Amy and Mala were contractions of Al and Arthurs names. Look and you will se all of those letters in their names. Bell was the parent company, and originaly recorded old Yiddish comedy records. It was only coincidence that Thom's last name was Bell. |

Bobby, would you know...I'm looking for the song "Precious Memories" on a CD, perhaps a compilation of some kind. Has it ever been anthoilogized? I believe the group -- The Romeos -- were Gamble and Huff and other studio musicians before the days of Philly International. Were you a part of this? |

Manny, Derek and Cyndi and Bobby taylor by himself recorded on th short lived Tommy(formerly Thunder) records. There were some unreleased sides by a girl group called Thunder who were actually Brown Sugar before B.S. Mike , I dont know much about the Romeo's record as I wasnt part of that one. |

"You Bring Out the Best in Me" by Derek and Cyndi was one of my favorites! I have the 45 with a picture sleeve. They seemed really young. Did they ever do a full album for Thunder? (I don't think I've ever seen anything by them on CD). Is the Bobby Taylor you mentioned the same one who recorded for Motown and did "Malinda" (among others)? |

Hi, Mr. "Electronic"! Many thanks for yor info about Tommy records. In the Motown case is easy to see that there are a main label (Tamla Motown, after renamed simply Motown) and the diverse subsidiaries (Tamla, Gordy, Soul, Black Forum,...). In the case of PIR, there are a lot of labels openeds by Gamble, Huff and Bell previously 1971 (Excel, Gamble, Huff-Puff, Neptune,...) and simultaneously with PIR (another time Gamble, TSOP, North Bay, Golden Fleece,...) and after when PIR was closed (Gamble-Huff Records) and, again PIR re-opened (PIR-Zoo)... Is hard to see what relation have those labels, what were subsidiaries,... In Spain I knows many TSOP originally realises appear here under the main logo (PIR). Perhaps is interesting to start a trhead about all the Philly labels (owned by G-H, Bell or Weldon McDougal and all) and his inter-relation. Peace & Soul Food |
