I've always thought the Winans Brothers of the Winans Family, were blessed with the gifts of song and ministry. I really enjoy Benjamin (BeBe Winans), in fact without devise of competiton, I think he is the best singer.
He started out with his sister CeCe on the Jim & Tammy Baker (Religious) show.
I think he could've done well in secular music also...what do yuo think?
I don't hear much about the Winans (In the Limelight)these days, although I live 10 minutes away from Marvins Perfecting Church here in Detroit. I would like some of your thoughts on the Winans.

Of course I like BeBe, but I am not sure how distinctivly strong his vocal really is comapred to The Winans, I saw the Brothers first at Wembley in London and they brought the house down - it was rocking for The Lord that night! and when I met them afterwards where such nice Guy's including Minister Marvin!

BeBe and CeCe I first saw in Manchester England, I have all there albums just like The Winans, but they never knocked me over like there Brothers!

Cheers John

I know what you mean jaybs...For some reason, (2 me)BeBe Winans voice to has a stronger quality and more soul stirring....but I do agree, they are great in concert...although the twins (Marvin & Carvin) sound totally different. It's amazing how they all can do lead...I guess everything they touch is a song. (smile)

For me Tomorrow by the Winans is one of the most touching and beautiful songs ever written.

Not many people know this but Carvin wrote Make it like it was by Regina Belle.

And yes, bebe has one of the most distinctive voices and styles in Gospel music and he could also do a Teddy type of secular thing if he wanted to do so.

"Make It Like It Was" sounds pretty secular to me. BeBe has a strong, incredible voice. If I could sing like anybody it might be him.

BeBe had a great song with JOE & Brian McNight that had a very secular feel. Many of BeBe & CeCe songs usually left the name JESUS out of them and crossed over, but Marvin is my favorite male vocalist in the family.

Glencro, that song was COMING BACK HOME. It was on BeBe's cd for, I think, Motown. I only heard a bit of it. He premiered some of the cuts on Oprah's tv show. But I think most of them were secular.

Imo, Make it like it was, could be construed as both secular AND inspirational,as the phrase"when I hungered for your love" could be the love of Jesus.
Next time, listen to the song with that in mind.
Even a song as "secular" as Somewhere, from West side story could be transformed into an inspirational song , as "the place for us" being Heaven.

Hi Everyone.

I like all of the Winans, but Be Be has always stood out to me (other than Marvin Winans). I think he would do great in secular music, especially since his release on Atlantic Records & Motown sound secular anyway, though the lyrics are inspirational. I met Be Be several years ago, and he is very down to earth & will crack you up with his sense of humor!

Eli, you are so right. In fact, Vickie Winans re-recorded "Somewhere" in the early 90's on her cd "The Lady" and she was referring to heaven.
