Wasn't a lot of this stuff on the "Never Before Released" CD from the late 80's? |

Seven on the tracks were either on the collections 25TH ANNIVERSARY (1986) or NEVER BEFORE RELEASED MASTERS (1987). |

This time they most likely will be mixed for stereo. On those 1980s CDs, many of them were mixed to unexciting monaural--probably so that we would happily buy them all over again once released in stereo. |

No no no. Mono wasn't unexciting. It was exciting! Compare Nowhere to Run or Quicksand or Ask the Lonely or many other great Motown tracks in mono compared to the pallid stereo remix/versions on albums at the time and released since then. There is no comparison. |

9 of the 26 tracks have seen release. Only 2 of them have been during Harry Weinger's tenure: People, on the 2000 Supremes Box Set with a rare Flo lead and Strangers In The Night, on the Motown Celebrates Sinatra compilation. For the 70's Supremes fans, Hip-O Select & Harry Weinger have thrown a few hints that the ultra- rare The Supremes Live In Japan lp will see its first cd appearance by late summer/early fall. |

If you are talking about the Jean, Mary, Lynda Live in Japan, I hope the CD is remastered and engineered. I have the CD and it is not one of my favorites. To my ears, the mix is not very good (between band and vocals) and Jean does not sound at her best (although Mary sounds just glorious). |

Mike_s: Yes, mono was exciting...on the 1960s records. But to make new mixes in mono for a CD in the 1980s..? Come on. LOL. Was this a mistake? They could have easily made nice stereo mixes, as these were clean, late-60s recordings with orchestra and big arrangements and everything. |
