Greetings From Down South - Y'all,

I hope all is well in your "That's The Way Of The World."

What's going on up in here - up in here?

Hey Weldon.

Well - we made it - and I love it! My father lives a hand throw away. He already took me to Sears for my washer & dryer. LOL!

Maannnnnnnnnnnn - but did I get a beautiful brick house for the money. This house here would be worth about $300K in VA.

Anyway - God gets all the praise - and my parents get the credit.

What is up with the Isley Brothers getting into Rap? LOL! Are they just trying to stay in the game? And are they trying to compete for the younger audiences' moolah? LOL!

Regardless of their motives - I wish them all the best.

One of my all-time fave songs by the Isleys is - "Sadie." There really are just too many to name. They have to be one of the all-time greatest R&B/Soul groups - indeed.

Somehow, I cant get with 65 year old men doing rap/hip hop.
I can respect them better for "keeping it real" the way we have been accustomed to hearing them.
And that MR Big persona is imo a negative stereotype that todays youth should not adhere to.

GGG,
Your timing is impeccable...I just sent u a short note about an hour ago.

Happy Saturday All,

I always say - whatever floats one's boat - and in this case - it still holds true - as it pertains to the Isley Brothers.

On one hand - I think these men must know they have fans that still play their music of old. And on the other - they also know that most in the younger generation haven't heard "I Want To Groove With You" type records. How can anyone - I ask - not love "Lay - Lady - Lay" "Summer Breeze" "Voyage To Atlantis" & "That Lady" - if they were to really listen to them? What classics!

Perhaps the Isleys feel they can gain more of the younger generation's admiration and appreciation if they cater and tailor at least one album to their senses and before too much longer.

Again - I hope the project goes over very well. For the most part - it will be a first - indeed.

Hey Destuction - I didn't get your message. I'll email you later. I had to jet out last evening - and when I got home - I didn't want to yank my daughter off the Net. LOL!

I am waiting on the cable man to come and hook me up w/a high speed modem - and have to decide how long I'll keep MSN and their dial-up method - for I won't need both - and I only want one telephone number up in the house.

Well - I've realized one thing since I've been here - and it is - Montgomery or Birmingham - when I hear certain jargon and phrases - I am transported back to another time and place - when my grandmother lived, and I would go home to visit.

Home is where the heart is indeed - yet - I've always called B'ham and AL my home place - and it is sooooooo true. "Home At Last."

I am and will be busy as a bird building a nest from now until - it would seem - what with all the boxes that still need unpacking. LOL! Moving is something else.

P.S. - I've already seen some finnneeee men. Them be my homies. LOL!

I'll holla'.

All,

Hey Eli. Thanks for your kind sentiments about my new diggs/pad/crib/abode - and my future peace & happiness. I appreciate it.

Already - I've had to let a couple of relatives know that I walk to the beat of my own drums - so there are certain places they can't go w/me - and they definitely can't take me there. LOL!

Besides all that - I know that I am truly blessed.

Hi Go Go!

Many congrats on the mansion :-), may the creator continue to bless you along the way! You sound truly happy, I feel your joy coming through my monitor. You better turn down the wattage, as my laptop can't handle the overload :-) By the way, you'll love cable!! Once you go cable, you'll never be able....to go back to dial up again!!!

As far as The Isleys new project is concerned, hmmmmm, let's see. Kev, I hear you. The selfish part of me wants to remember them as they were. The realistic part of me understands that they need to eat. While I wish that they could continue to do their thing like they used to do, unfortunately times have changed & given the state of the music industry today (as well as the tendency for the media to fossilize most singers over 40), they have to adjust to today's climate to get the cheddar. Unfortunately, radio seems to have few spaces left for our classic artists.

With that said, I understand about the wonders of viagra, however.....I think that it looks absolutely ludicrous for his to be traipsing around with 20 something women in his videos. I'll be 44 next month & can't imagine being able to relate to a 22 year-old as a romantic partner. It's good for the ego perhaps, but, I just can't see it.

Destruction, Soulman....When keeping it real goes wrong indeed. That's hilarious stuff there :-)

I think the contrast is even stranger since Ronald did the classiest album of last year with his collaboration with Burt Bacharach...
Following this masterpiece of oozing class and soothing music with some butt-naked-sleazy-dancing-rap- o-Mr-Big-kinda-homie-stylee-ra p nonsense is sure to raise doubts as to the tur integrity of this album..

Bobby said it all on the Soul thread when he said that Soul music needed sincerity... So I'm asking : Does Ronald rap sincerely???
Well asking the question is getting the answer.
I know he has to pay the bills, but I still hope that he doesn't 'really' need the cash generated by this project to keep his boat afloat... or we're in deep trouble...
It would mean that Soul is dead, and if he gets major hits out of this, then as we say in France, the house fell on the dog (which is self explanatory I think!).
If Angela Winbush was still with him I don't think he would have done that! She is a classy writer-producer and what he did with her was excellent!

Wonder B
If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go!

Good Morning All,

I hear y'all. But....... when speaking of these men's (Isleys) ages - I don't think they have much time to give us (what shall we call ourselves now?) older generation of fans too many great albums to even come close to what they used to put out. They still can sing and can come up w/some good numbers - but for the most part - those dynamite albums back-to-back - back in the day - and when their music were selling off the shelves is over.

Did someone state that these men are in their latter sixties? They are probably praising God that they're still able to do many things at this score in their lives.

So - I think they have time to take on a venture like this - and they must have the will - for they are going to do it - so there is the sincerity. I pray that God gives them the longevity to get it done.

Thanks Juicefree for your kind words. I'm for sure experiencing "Happy Feelings" since I've been here. But....... happiness is fleeting. I've always prayed for peace and contentment - and I cherish these feelings - indeed.

Go Go......

AMEN to that, it does come and go.

There's one sentence in that article that puzzles me. I need somone here to explain this one, as it sounds rather crazy to me. They SOLD THEIR FUTURE ROYALTY EARNINGS (For at least a few mil) WHILE RETAINING OWNERSHIP OF THEIR MUSIC??? Now, my ignorance is really showing here, can someone explain how this works?

BTW: Paris Hilton & Little Jon, doing an LP together tentatively titled "Screwed".....................WHAT!!! OK!!
Can you imagine that??? Man, I better hook up the old Trinity, some Cubase, find some talent......just dreaming again :-)

Juice
