I finally got by Detroit Memorial Park Cemetery today for pictures of the Darrell Banks memorial, purchased from funds donated by SD fans from around the world. Located in Section 36, it is the only monument in the section making it easy to see from the distance. Here is a close up of the top. As Eubanks is his real name, the compromise was to have the family name on the side and his show name on top. This probably the only marker in a the park with a web address! http://SOULFULDETROIT.COM/DB tells the story. |

My best friend died a month ago and as we went into the church to start with they played the spinners 'Ill always love you' which was heartwrenching enough especially for his wife and family but as we ended they played Darrell Banks 'Open the door to your heart' say no more............... great to see a memorial to one of the finest voiced artists that I have had the pleasure to listen to. RIP Frank Jackson RIP Darrell Banks mel |

Nice work Lowell and David. You should be very proud of the great job you (and many others) did on behalf of Darrell Banks and his memory. |

I'll second Carl's comments...after seeing Darrell's unmarked grave up close, it's nice to see that he is finally getting the honor he deserves. Have any members of his family seen it, and if so, what were their reactions? Best, Mark |

Mark We were unable to make contact with Darrell's family. I think they moved to the West Coast in the seventies. |

Lowell - In the press release where you have mentioned James Norman, you have Section 6. Shouldn't it be Section 36??? (Message edited by sis on July 08, 2004) |
