The American Film Institute included the Tempts' "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" on its list of the top 100 movie songs. "Ain't Too Proud To Beg," for those who don't recall, was featured in The Big Chill. It came in at number 94.

That got me to thinking about when I've heard some of my favorite soul jams in movies. "Midnight Train To Georgia" in Broadcast News springs to mind. And doesn't it seem like every time you turn around "We Are Family" is being used to advertise a film?

Was Disco Inferno on the list?
I know for sure that it was used in countless films.

THIS WILL BE has been used a couple of times, too. First in WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING. And more recently in LOVE ACTUALLY.

I taped the show and fastforwarded through it this AM, only stopping when either a song or a celebrity (Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick) that I liked came on.

I don't recall seeing DISCO INFERNO. But it would have made a good addition to the list.

I didn't see the program. I read about it on cnn.com. If I'd known Gladys was going to be interviewed I'd have tuned in. I guess she talked about The Way We Were...?

Hollywood voted on top 100 movie songs and number 1 was "Over The Rainbow" from the Wizard Of Oz. It was in the newspapers today.

I thought there were a lot of glaring omissions from the list that was presented on TV, but at one point in the show, a woman came on (I don't recall who she was) and said that if we were annoyed that our favorite was deleted or placed lower than it should have been, we should complain. She offered the website for AFI, and I suppose there is a message board or e-mail link that you can use to do this.

Largo,
Gladys was shown at least twice. She talked about AIN'T TOO PROUD TO BEG from The Big Chill and I believe DON'T RAIN ON MY PARADE from Funny Girl.

I don't know if she talked about THE WAY WE WERE but I was surprised that she didn't speak about THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS.
